Thanks. I will need beta testers for sure. It is just hard to find the time to work on it.

Beta 1.0.17 is nearing readiness

Post by MarkDHamill »

I am (I think) a few days from releasing a beta version of 1.0.17. This will be a private release. I don't want more than a half dozen testers. Some have already volunteered. If you would like to volunteer please speak up.

This is quite an update and a lot of work. New functionality includes:

- A pretty nifty Admin interface
- Private messages in the digest
- Admin selectable automatic subscription of new users
- Ability for administrator to enroll some or all unsubscribed users
- Ability through admin user interface to set digest defaults, and to control lots of settings

A good tester will really put it through its paces. Holler if interested.

Hi mark,

Sorry i havent been following this topic for quite some time now - Just wondering if you have styled up the e-mail format yet or not?

Love the concept but the version i have is still rather ugly hehe

I dont know a whole heap about phpbb and have sorta been just learning it through trial and error via adding mods like your own to a dummy site i made - so i dont think i would be a good candidate for your latest beta but i really do appreciate all the work you have put in so far! its great,

Thanks a heap,

Tltus

Emails have allowed style sheets to be applied for several years now. You must be running a very old version.

The format i get from the digest is it comes up with a table with the headings Link Post Time Author and Message Excerpt in a very basic looking table underneath that it then displays the options you have selected for the mod -

Format of the Digest: HTML
Show Message Text: YES
Show My Messages: YES
Digest Frequency: DAY
Show only new messages since last time I logged in: FALSE
Send digest if no new messages: YES
Maximum characters per message in digest: 32000

But in no way does it reflect the style sheet of the mod - could you suggest a link to the correct version i should be using? I am looking at re-doing my entire forum soon so i wont have any problems with a new install i wouldnt think - as i am planning to start from scratch.

Just installed and love the idea. However, the digest is not being sent to users. It successfully sends to me both through direct url and batch scheduling by cron. But it does not send to anyone else. I have 4 users set up with various email addresses, and none of them receive it.

When I run a test, it only shows as sending 1 digest each time.

Of course when they receive the digest depends on the hour they selected. batch_scheduling.txt has some advice on how to create a log. It is possible the digests are going out but your other users aren't getting them because they are caught in their spam filters. If you can get it through a cron anyone should be able to.

I have my administrator account set up to receive digests, and it does. I also have a board founder account set up with the same email address. It also receives the digest.

Then I have four other users set up the exact same way with their own email addresses. I have complete access to these accounts for testing.

I have checked the spam and junk settings and folders, and nothing is being caught.

UPDATE: I also have Tri Force installed. I received the following error when attempting to run test via .../mail_digests.php?=test after setting up main moderator to receive digests.

"Attempt to run mail_digests.php for an invalid user level. User level is 3 and username is... DEBUG MODE... line 228... mail_digests.php"

If you run mail_digests.php in test mode, do it like this:

http://myboard.com/mail_digests.php?test=1

I run the test with http://mydomain.com/myboard/mail_digests.php?test=1

I can't run it with "http://myboard.com/mail_digests.php?test=1"
or http://mydomain.com/mail_digests.php?test=1

the error message is an intermittent error.

Digests are not being sent to other users! I have all the users set up the exact same way as my administrator account except for the email address. They should all receive the digests at the same time, but they are not receiving any digests.
