Having installed this Mod I have discovered several disadvantages which are entirely subjective, so I won't go into them, but I would be very appreciative if some later version of theis Mod would allow the function to be switched off and on.

For the moment, I would be grateful for some guidance on how to safely uninstall this Mod without bringing everything else down.

Cheers

If you have a set backup files, then you can safely use them to replce the edited files. If not, the only way is to perform backward changes of those actions described inside the MOD.

Indeed, it is a good idea to have the feature turned on or off by admin or members.

It would also nice to show the senders msg in it's original layout.
With bold, italic and those other formating technics (smileys too!).

Could this be done?

thanks

I agree, an ACP on/off switch AND a similar on/off switch in the user's Profile (visibility of that dependant on whether it's allowed in ACP) would be a fine evolution of the mod.

I'd like to see better "stripping" of HTML or BB code items transmitted in the emails. The (opening and closing quotation symbol " ) shows as " directly in-line with the text. Perhaps someone can guide me to disabling that from coming through??

It is not possible because what phpBB is sending out at defult is a txt-based email, not in html :wink:

I know all about that, it's just that I'm not going to change the format phpBB is sending out at default (and there's a lot need changing). Someone else might have develop a MOD that sends email in HTML format.

Isn't HTMl messages just adding:

Code: Select all

Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><body>
...
</body></HTML>
those tags with some formatting tags?

greetings

Someone else mentioned getting strange variables in their emails. My install is changing simple quotes into """. Any suggestions? My users won't be able to handle this... lol

Thank you.

Still fussing around ;)
How can I implement the PM subject/title in the e-mail?
I added this in privmsg.php:

Code: Select all

				$emailer->assign_vars(array(
					'USERNAME' => $to_username,
					'POST_SUBJECT' => $post_subject,  // <=== !
					'SENDER_USERNAME' => htmlspecialchars($userdata['username']),	//Extended_PM_Notification MOD
					'PM_MESSAGE' => $message_text,	//Extended_PM_Notification MOD
					'SITENAME' => $board_config['sitename'],
					'EMAIL_SIG' => (!empty($board_config['board_email_sig'])) ? str_replace('<br />', "\n", "-- \n" . $board_config['board_email_sig']) : '',

					'U_INBOX' => $server_protocol . $server_name . $server_port . $script_name . '?folder=inbox')
				);
And this in privmsg_notify.tpl

Code: Select all

----------------- {POST_SUBJECT} ---------------------------
{PM_MESSAGE}
--------------------------------------------
But it doesn't work?!

Have I change something in emailer.php too?

Is there also a way to forward the complete post if the user switched on 'Notify me when a reply is posted'?

thanks
Peter
