Table BBCode Installed ~ Is This Correct?

Post by Miska » Fri Sep 23, 2005 12:03 am

Hi All . . . :)

I finally got the Table BBCode Mod installed (via EasyMod) but I'm only seeing the Table BBcode button, aren't there suppose to be other buttons showing with this mod? (mrow, col, etc?)

Just wondering, if the Table BBCode is the Only button that's suppose to show then everything is working as it should, otherwise I'm in trouble! 8O

Many Thanks for any and all help/advice.

Regards,

~ Miska

Click on the :?: button just to the right of your [table] bbcode command, would be a good place to start. :-)

Or just type in [mrow], [row], [mcol], or [col] (with or without color=#RRGGBB tag).

I'm using an older version so I can't see what you are suggesting. I was asking for a friend. Are you saying that there are row and col buttons next to the table BBCode button? I created that on my board, but I don't know if that's what most admins would see after installing this version of the MOD. A screenshot might be able to clear this up...

On mine I just have the [table] bbcode button, and then a little button with a question-mark just to the right of it that opens up the bbcode FAQ, where all the new commands are listed and explained. It would take too long to describe all that they do here.

As for the [mrow], [row], [mcol], and [col] commands, you have to type those in manually. There are no buttons for them. In case you can't get to the bbcode FAQ page, here's a short recap of what they stand for:

[mrow] = main row, text is in bold and centered
[row] = a new regular row, text is normal, aligned on the left
[mcol] = main new column, text is in bold and centered
[col] = a new regular column, text is normal and left aligned.

sample:

[table][mrow]Row 1 Col 1 Bold Text[mcol]Row 1 Col 2 Bold Text[row]Row 2 Col 1 Text[col]Row 2 Col 2 text[/table]

(I think I forgot the closing [/mrow] ... [/col] tags in that. Sorry, been up too late and not remembering clearly at the moment. Read the BBCode FAQ. I'm not one of the authors or anything, just one of the many that have installed it. I use it for special photo layouts and things. Trying to be helpful in their absence.)

Thanks Koyaanis, that clears it up quite a bit. The author of this MOD had to evacuate because of Huricane Rita, so he isn't available to help for a while. So any outside help is greatly appreciated...

I just added BBCode buttons to my BBCode Panel to make things a bit easier. But since I'm using an older version, I don't have some of the latest funcitonality that you have:

Hu everyone, now that the Hurricane has past, I can probably start providing support again. Thank you for not overloading me while I delt with the situation. If anyone has any questions regarding how to use the MOD, please let me know so I can address these in the next version.
PLEASE NOTE: I have left the coding community and no longer provide support for any coding I may have contributed to in the past. I apologize for the inconvenience and fully welcome anyone perfecting my code for the betterment of this community.

Usually you can modify the MOD file to use less information for the tpl files so that it will install into all of your templates, rather than subSilver. Many MOD authors provide far more information than is needed to install the MOD, which limits how many boards their MODs can install without modification....

If you post what is hanging you up, I could probably tell you what you need to do to modify the MOD file so that it will work in most, if not all of your templates. I have 12 templates on my board and I rarely have to manually apply code to any of them...

Thanks for this great mod.
Question
In the instructions for those who don't have the "Multi bbcode Mod" you see in the code where the Question Mark image is added beside the TABLE button

Code: Select all

<td><span class="genmed">
			  <input type="button" class="button" accesskey="g" name="addbbcode18" value="Table" style="width: 40px" onClick="bbstyle(18)" onMouseOver="helpline('g')" />
			  </span></td>
			<td>
			  <a href="{U_BBCODE_G_FAQ}" target="_blank"><img align="top" src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_tablebbcode.gif" border=0 /></a></td>
#
However, in the instructions for those who have the "Multi bbcode Mod" the is nowhere you can find the code to insert the Question Mark image beside the TABLE button

Any specific reason why it's not there?
Thanks

Can you provide a text link for your bbcode.tpl file so that I can look at what you have? I do have this line in my subSilver bbcode.tpl file, so I can't really tell you what to change this line to in your MOD file. You could probably use anything from your bbcode.tpl file for this FIND statement since it is adding instead of replacing code...
