Does anyone know of a mod that will allow the user to set their own default (not on a per forum basis, but as a whole on the site)? I have some users who would like to show the newest first in all forums, and some who want the oldest first. This is the closest thing I could find, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

It should be clarified that the mod for 2.0.20 and 2.0.21 does not work out of the box. You need to make the changes offered by Arseni in his May 20, 2006 post. Now it seems to work.

And while it is supposed to be just the Admin being able to set the default sort order, it seems to have added a box allowing users to do the same (on posts, not topics).

Any chance of this one getting a update so it does work out of the box? It is a nice basic mod.

I probably should've mentioned that it happens when editing any of my forums.

A bug is a feature that hasn't made it to the manual (yet)

I'm using phpBB 2.0.22. I haven't tested the mod thoroughly, but so far it seems to be working beautifully. :D

I did make the changes offered by Arseni in his May 20, 2006 post. Prior to that, it only worked when accessing viewtopic.php via the "View latest post" link. :?

Re: [2.0.18] Default Post Sort Order

Post by geefjemening.tk » Sun Feb 17, 2008 6:29 pm

thanks, a few users wanted the messages in an topic sorted as a guestbook, so i installed this. I only had to change the defoult sort mothod, becouse i wanted to keep the regular forum way of sorting, and only the people who want it the other way, could set it in the cp.
everything works great, but i have one problem: in the register mode i changed the standard so if peope dont change anything, the oldest will stay at top. but when eccisting users view the topics, it is the old way,, but when they go to the cp, so its is in the editprofile mode, the bullet stays at newest first, and thats strange, becouse i thought that i had set everything to oldest first standart. where do i have to change this one?
