My Suggested Cookie Settings:
  • Domain Name: randomsociety.lordsofscience.com
  • Server Port: 80
  • Script path: /forum/
  • Cookie secure: Disabled
  • Cookie domain: randomsociety.lordsofscience.com
  • Cookie path: /forum
  • Cookie name: phpBB2_forum
  • Session length [ seconds ]: 3600
  • Allow automatic logins: Yes
  • Automatic login key expiry: 0
It's still suggesting using the subdomain.. I don't get it.

I recently changed the domain name for our forum - same webserver, just a new domain. I get the typical responses that indicate I should try the auto cookies mod- page not found when I login, yet if I go back a page, i am logged in, but cannt access the admin panel - I get page not found again. So I followed the instructions to do the auto cookies MOD. When I go to the forum and type in /install/cookie.php after the forum url the script doesn't run. Instead i get:

"Please ensure both the install/ and contrib/ directories are deleted"

There is no contrib/ directory in my php directory. I am very new at site admin, so the more descriptive the reply, the better - thanks!

Because you are on a subdomain. If you are having issues try .lordsofscience.com for the cookie domain.

thanks Geocator - I finally got it. I forgot to remove the /index from the site url before I typed /install/cookie.php. Once I did that, it worked like a breeze! It's the little things that gitcha!

Great mod!

I honestly know nothing about 3.0, I have not used it or looked at it. You should probably open a topic in the support forums explaining your issues.

I just installed this MOD hoping to solve the log-in problems of some of my members. What happened directly after the mod was installed was that everytime I try to log in, the forum adds an "s" after the "http" in the url, i.e. it wants to go to to https://www.mydomain.com/phpbb2/etc.. instead of http://www.mydomain.com/phpbb2/etc... I can log in if I just delete the "s" in the address, but something is obviously wrong here. Could be I've missed something obvious, but this is a loong thread and I'm sort of in a state of panic at the moment... Hilfe! :(

I tried using this on phpBB 3.0 and it did not work. I posted the question in the support forum and someone replied that Auto Cookies doesn't work with the 3.0 version. Is this true? Is there a simple way of manually fixing the cookies? Can someone PLEASE HELP?

I was told if I wanted to manually do this I would
"you will have to go into the config table (not file) and change the domain and path info for the new forum, since it will have a different domain, etc. You can either do that with phpMyAdmin in the config table"
I went into phpMyAdmin, and I have no idea of what to do once there, can someone explain?
Thank you!

If you want a further explanation as to what am I doing here it goes...
I have a category(named a city) for a forum, then I have 150 subcategories. Each subcategory has 6 topics. I want to duplicate the structure of the subcategories and topics, and put them into a new main category (titled a different city). There is no data in the forum, just the main structure of categories/subcategories/topics.
