If I wanted to completely remove the option for hiding/showing the quick reply window by way of the interface button (or link; since I have no button for my template(s)) and only let people choose to show/hide by selecting the desired state in their profile settings, is this the piece of code instruction that needs to be left out or changed?

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
templates/subSilver/admin/user_edit_body.tpl

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
<tr>
<th class="thSides" colspan="2" height="12" valign="middle">{L_AVATAR_PANEL}</th>

#
#-----[ BEFORE, ADD ]--------------------------------------
#
	<tr>
	  <th class="thSides" colspan="2" height="12" valign="middle">{L_QUICK_REPLY_PANEL}</th>
	</tr>
	<tr>
	  <td class="row1"><span class="gen">{L_SHOW_QUICK_REPLY}:</span></td>
	  <td class="row2">{QUICK_REPLY_SELECT}</td>
	</tr>
	<tr>
	  <td class="row1"><span class="gen">{L_QUICK_REPLY_MODE}:</span></td>
	  <td class="row2">
		<input type="radio" name="quickreply_mode" value="0" {QUICK_REPLY_MODE_BASIC} />
		<span class="gen">{L_QUICK_REPLY_MODE_BASIC}</span>&nbsp;&nbsp;
		<input type="radio" name="quickreply_mode" value="1" {QUICK_REPLY_MODE_ADVANCED} />
		<span class="gen">{L_QUICK_REPLY_MODE_ADVANCED}</span></td>
	</tr>
	<tr>
	  <td class="row1"><span class="gen">{L_OPEN_QUICK_REPLY}:</span></td>
	  <td class="row2">
		<input type="radio" name="open_quickreply" value="1" {OPEN_QUICK_REPLY_YES} />
		<span class="gen">{L_YES}</span>&nbsp;&nbsp;
		<input type="radio" name="open_quickreply" value="0" {OPEN_QUICK_REPLY_NO} />
		<span class="gen">{L_NO}</span></td>
	</tr>
	<tr>
	  <td class="catSides" colspan="2"><span class="cattitle">&nbsp;</span></td>
	</tr>
I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me out with this.
I don't want that hide/show link being visible on the forum and it seems easier to leave out that option altogether rather than try to make buttons for the different templates I use.

One more question:

I've been trying to redo this one manually and keep getting this error

Code: Select all

SQL Error : 1054 Unknown column 'user_show_quickreply' in 'field list'

UPDATE phpbb2_users SET user_email = '*******', user_icq = '', user_website = '', user_occ = '', user_from = '', user_interests = '', user_sig = '', user_sig_bbcode_uid = '', user_viewemail = 1, user_aim = '', user_yim = '', user_msnm = '', user_attachsig = 0, user_allowsmile = 1, user_allowhtml = 0, user_allowbbcode = 1, user_allow_viewonline = 1, user_notify = 0, user_notify_pm = 1, user_popup_pm = 1, user_timezone = 0, user_dateformat = 'd M Y h:i a', user_show_quickreply = 1, user_quickreply_mode = 1, user_open_quickreply = 1, user_lang = 'english', user_style = 2, user_active = 1, user_actkey = '' WHERE user_id = 2

Line : 534
File : usercp_register.php
Been going over it all night and can't find the problem.

Looks like you haven't added the field to the database. Did you execute the SQL commands at the end of the .MOD file?

Code: Select all

ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD user_show_quickreply TINYINT(1) DEFAULT '1' NOT NULL;
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD user_quickreply_mode TINYINT(1) DEFAULT '1' NOT NULL;
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD user_open_quickreply TINYINT(1) DEFAULT '1' NOT NULL;
UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_show_quickreply=0 WHERE user_id=-1;
UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_quickreply_mode=0 WHERE user_id=-1;
UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_open_quickreply=0 WHERE user_id=-1;
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value) VALUES ('allow_quickreply', '1');
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value) VALUES ('anonymous_show_sqr', '0');
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value) VALUES ('anonymous_sqr_mode', '0');
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value) VALUES ('anonymous_open_sqr', '0');

Thanks for the reply.

I did do the SQL commands :?

I even reverted to an earlier backup of everything and tried copying all of the files and running the SQL commands all over again, and still got that same error when trying to update a user profile.

I can see all of the controls for the mod in the admin and user control panels, but I can't update user profiles.

Does this mean there is something wrong with that particular file, or just that it can'r do it's job for whatever reason?

Code: Select all

Line : 534
File : usercp_register.php
EDIT:
I just tried doing everything all over again (after installing an older backup of the database and other files) and still am getting that error :cry:

Are you sure it's the same error? "Unknown column 'user_show_quickreply' in 'field list'"

If so, then it's the database telling you that you haven't added the 'user_show_quickrely' column and obviously the SQL query hasn't worked. Check your database in phpMyAdmin and see if that column is there.

Thanks.

Yeah, it's the same error.

I am totally new to all of this and have only had a paid hosting account for a few days, so this is the first time I had to run SQL queries.

I checked the database and didn't see it there.

It seems like the UPDATE commands aren't working??
This is the message I am getting after running them:
Affected rows: 0 (Query took 0.0028 sec)
SQL query:
UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_show_quickreply =0 WHERE user_id = -1;

Does that mean it didn't work? Why wouldn't it work?

After doing the ALTER TABLE queries, I would get a message telling me they were successful.

Thanks for helping.

Sorry, I had another look, now that I have more time to figure out what I'm doing (was at work earlier), and I see that the column is in fact in the database, but I don't know what kind of settings are supposed to be attributed to it.

Here's what I found:

______________________________________ Null ____ Default

user_show_quickreply | tinyint (1) ___| No ___| ____ 1

user_quickreply_mode | tinyint (1) __ _| No __ | ____ 1

user_open_quickreply | tinyint (1) ___ | No__ | ____ 1

Is this okay, or does something need to be changed?

I've a Problem with SQR Mod, and I'm sure is the line below, because without this code the SQR works great!.

In my forum, I've installed the MOD "Search in Topic", who have this line in viewtopic_body.tpl

BEFORE {JUMPBOX} I've ADD:

Code: Select all

<td align="right" valign="middle" nowrap="nowrap"><form action="{U_TOPIC_SEARCH}" name="post" method="POST" target="_top"><input type="hidden" name="search_terms" value="any" /><input type="hidden" name="return_chars" value="100" /><input type="hidden" name="show_results" value="posts" /><input type="hidden" name="sort_dir" value="ASC" /><input type="hidden" name="mode" value="topic_search" /><input type="hidden" name="topic_id" value="{TOPIC_ID}" /><input type="text" name="search_keywords" size="20" maxlength="250" value="" /> <input type="submit" name="search_submit" value="{L_SEARCH_TOPIC}" class="liteoption" />
all code (with SQR MOD) is this one:

Code: Select all

		<td align="right" valign="middle" nowrap="nowrap"><form action="{U_TOPIC_SEARCH}" name="post" method="POST" target="_top"><input type="hidden" name="search_terms" value="any" /><input type="hidden" name="return_chars" value="100" /><input type="hidden" name="show_results" value="posts" /><input type="hidden" name="sort_dir" value="ASC" /><input type="hidden" name="mode" value="topic_search" /><input type="hidden" name="topic_id" value="{TOPIC_ID}" /><input type="text" name="search_keywords" size="20" maxlength="250" value="" /> <input type="submit" name="search_submit" value="{L_SEARCH_TOPIC}" class="liteoption" />
		{JUMPBOX}</td>

	</tr>

	</table>

	</td>

</tr>

</table>{TPL_FTR}
<!-- BEGIN switch_quick_reply -->
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="{U_POST_SQR_TOPIC}"><img src="{SQR_IMG}" border="0" alt="{L_POST_SQR_TOPIC}" align="middle" /></a>
<!-- END switch_quick_reply -->
<!-- BEGIN switch_quick_reply -->
	{QRBODY}
<!-- END switch_quick_reply -->
The problem with SQR is that one:
In the boxtext message, it show the smiley and the BBCode Buttons, but they don't work, the BBCode buttons don't insert the Tag in the Box also the Smiley have the same problem.

I hope you can help me becuase I love the SQR Mod, but I need also the mod "Search in topic".
And sorry for my english...

It's possible to remove those columns from the phpbb_config table, but as they're not not used they're not going to cause any harm.

To remove the columns you'd need to do it through phpMyAdmin on your server interface.

Double check your edits? I'm guessing it sounds like a conflict with some other javascript code ? maybe in your overall_header.... it's hard to say.

The smiles in the Super Quick-Reply window work as they should for me (I'm using phpBB 2.0.23), so I don't think there's anything wrong with the instructions.

I had a problem with the SQL queries, but figured that out and now this mod seems to be working fine.
