MOD Validated/Released

Notes:
This MOD makes it so that you can post topics that users can sign up for some sort of event that you are hosting. Like if you are having a tournament on Halo 2, you can create a topic type and people can sign up with the click of a button with this MOD.

just have a look at:

http://www.regmod.clancodes.com

and try the test forum.

some additional information:
- by clicking the "participate" button again you confirm your participation
- by clicking another option you change your status
- the dot in front of the topic title shows your own selection
- the digits after the topic title shows you a summary of the registrations

Looks like a very good MOD. I've been wanting something like this for a while so it will come in useful I'm sure.

I just tried to create a topic in your test forum, but it came up with the following error:
DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' 0)' at line 1

INSERT INTO phpbb_topics (topic_title, topic_poster, topic_time, forum_id, topic_status, topic_type, topic_vote) VALUES ('testtt', 19, 1107084997, 2, 0, , 0)

Line : 258
File : /www/htdocs/stukusc/includes/functions_post.php

Go ahead and fix it, I know some people who could be interested in your MOD :)

demo forum fixed. there was a bug in version 1.0.2 concerning permissions for different topic types. this is corrected now (new version 1.0.3 can be found on http://www.regmod.clancodes.com - or here, hopefully).

the correction is:

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
posting.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
				$topic_type = ( $topic_type != $post_data['topic_type'] && !$is_auth['auth_sticky'] && !$is_auth['auth_announce'] ) ? $post_data['topic_type'] : $topic_type;

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
&& !$is_auth['auth_announce']

#
#-----[ IN-LINE AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
 && !$is_auth['auth_reg']

I've installed the mod and it's looks good, just one problem which is probably a simple fix though, the spacing within the forum topics has increased to double that on my index page . . . can anyone help please?

Thanks.

@The Steel: could you post a link to your forum to get a hint of what's going wrong there?

@AndyA: on the index page? the regmod doesn't modify any files related to index.php. link to your forum?

so umm...this mod basically allows us to make a special type of topic where people can sign up for an event?

also, is it for a specific usergroup (admins, mods, etc) or can any user make such topics?

first of all: a demo can be found here: http://www.regmod.clancodes.com.

and yes, it is possible to set the ability for this topic type to specific usergroups or permission types (all, reg, mod, admin etc.). the mod uses the normal phpBB auth system. in the zip-archive you also find a modified version for the auth system of the category hierarchy mod.
