Notes:
With this MOD you can make different pages of your forum refresh automatically. You can set the time (in seconds) between refreshes in the Admin Control Panel.

IMPORTANT:

Currently the download link in the first post isn't working (it's showing the first version instead of the current version) - if you want to download this MOD, please use the following link -

http://www.xboxelite.co.uk/auto-refresh-forum-1.1.3.zip

This is the exact version of the file that I downloaded through the "My modifications" page.

-----------------------------------------------

Thanks for validating my MOD. :)

It's my first released MOD. :D

:arrow: By default, the MOD only works with the index and viewforum pages, but if you want it to work on any other page, you just need to add one line of code.

:arrow: To do this, just repeat the step for the index/viewforum page, and if you can't find the bit you have to ad the line of code after, just put it near the top somewhere.

:arrow: By default the pages refresh every 60 seconds (one minute), but this can be changed in the General Config page of the Admin Panel.

:arrow: Entering anything less than 1 in the config field will disable the MOD without any Javascript errors like in the beta version - I use a PHP switch now, so there shouldn't be any errors.

:arrow: This MOD works with (but, of course, isn't officially compatible) with Nuttzy's EasyMOD version 0.1.13.

I think that's everything - if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. :D

If I'm using MS Asscess database, which mod should I use to add the attachement function?

I'm not sure spamming topics will get you an answer to your question.

Please find the correct topic and post your question in there. :)

Your mod works great with my template that is a modified subSilver, but I also have a comicBook template (thought it would add a "fun" factor to the board) that the Auto Refresh mod doesn't work so well on. Instead of refreshing every so often; when viewing a topic, posting a reply or new topic, if I click anywhere on the page (with the exception of buttons, links and images), the page refreshes. At the moment, I've disabled the mod for that template cause I can't figure out why it happens, but I'm still learning all this kinda stuff. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I remeber that happening when I was testing the MOD before release.

Could you post up or PM me the ComicBook style's overall_header.tpl file so I can take a look for you?

Cheers.

Here it is, at the moment the code is in the overall_header.tpl but I have it commented out so that it doesn't cause problems with members. Also, I had it seperated at one point (that's why I have the code seperated into two sections), because Dreamweaver kept moving the </head> tag everytime I opened the file to add or edit something, so to stop DW from doing that I put the first part just below the other meta tags, and left the rest of the code where you see it. That stopped DW from moving the </head> tag to before it.

Code: Select all

I've not forgotten, by the way - I'm just really busy with school work at the moment. :D

I'll try and take a look sometime this week (probably the weekend), but I apologise in advance if I can't do it until after that.

Cheers.

Hey, I've got a request for an addition to this mod. Is there some way we can make this mod user level configurable? IE the user has the choice to enable this refresh feature in their profile so that it only refreshes for them and not everyone? I ask this because I got some moans and groans from some of the other members when they heard about this, but some were estatic about it. So rather than p*** off half my members I'd rather be able to delegate some control of this down to each individual instead. That way those who want this can turn it on in their profile and those that don't want it can leave it switched off.

Is this possible or is that going to be too much work?

Nope, not too much work - that was a feature I was originally going to put into the MOD but decided to make it more simple by just having it on or off.

My school holidays are coming up after this week, so once I've fixed the bug for the person who posted earlier, I'll look into this.

:D

Cr@ter$ - First of all, apologies for taking so long - too busy relaxing. :P

My first suggestion is to take this bit of code, and put it just under the <body> tag -

Code: Select all

<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
setTimeout('location.href = location.href',1000*{REFRESH_TIME});
//-->
</script>
(Also, in your file, you have //-- instead of //--> but I tested that on my test forum and it shouldn't cause the problem, although it may cause problems with older browsers...)

My only other suggestion right now, until I can remember what caused this during testing :P is to try and reinstall the whole MOD, checking that everything's been put in the right place...

I suspect it's not the overall_header.tpl file that's the problem - I think it may be another file that's at fault.

I'll look into it more for you, but if you could try those 2 things for me, that would be great. :D

Lord Raiden - that should be easy enough to do, but fixing bugs is priority, I'm afraid. :P

I'll get onto your request right after this damn bug is squashed. :D
