I use the latest version of eXtreme Styles by Cyberalien, and the original template.php is replaced, so I can't find the following:

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]---------------------------------------------
#
includes/template.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------------------
# Line 233
       		$filename = phpbb_realpath($this->root . '/' . $filename);

#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]---------------------------------------------
#
       		$filename = ($rp_filename = phpbb_realpath($this->root . '/' . $filename)) ? $rp_filename : $filename;
Here's template.php lines 219-236:

Code: Select all

		// checking if all variables exist
		foreach($default as $var => $value)
		{
			if(!isset($board_config[$var]))
			{
				$board_config[$var] = $value;
				$add[] = $var;
			}
		}
		// checking if there are any outdated variables that should be deleted
		for($i=0; $i<count($outdated); $i++)
		{
			if(isset($board_config[$outdated[$i]]))
			{
				$del[] = $outdated[$i];
			}
		}
		if(!isset($board_config['xs_version']))
What does the above edit do anyway? And is it okay if I leave it out or how would I implement it into the modified version of template.php?

Its fine if you don't make that change. It updates a bug where the template filename wasn't being displayed in an error. Here is more information on it

Might want to change the $phpbb_root_path = './../'; to $phpbb_root_path = './'; if you wana run from your phpBB directory.

Would you happen to know if eXtreme Styles' version of template.php already has such a fix? I'll ask CyberAlien.

You're reffering to me, right? If so, where would I make that change, and to run what?

Does it defeat the purpose of updating if I snip out the changed code that takes the version information out of overall_footer.tpl? I like it displaying what version of phpBB my forum is running.

You don't need to. Just ignore the template.php lines, template.php in eXtreme Styles is totally different from phpBB's template.php - and the change that is done can be completely ignored.

Edit I had to do some changes to the file. The first change didn't apply on my most modded forum, here is a change that allows to pass through:

[vbcode]
#
#-----[ OPEN ]---------------------------------------------
#
admin/admin_db_utilities.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------------------
# Line 696
$tables = array('

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]---------------------------------------------
#
, 'words'

#
#-----[ IN-LINE AFTER, ADD ]---------------------------------------------
#
, 'confirm'
[/vbcode]

I don't know which mod has changed the file, maybe more than one. Script ran fine after doing the change above.

There is no need to update template.php for eXtreme Styles mod because mod uses completely different handling of files and error messages. That change applies only to default template.php and template systems in directory "contrib".
