kjcdude wrote: DONT INSTALL THIS MOD IF YOU HAVE A PREVOUS VERSION OF IT INSTALLED

I USED to have this mod installed, just upgraded, and it *beep* up my forum so i had to go through and hand pick every line of it out and now i dont even have the old version on it.

Would you like help? Or support? It's a lot easier to help someone when they ask for help than when they say "DON'T INSTALL BECAUSE IT SCREWED ME UP!" Furthermore, if it is an error with a MOD, asking for help will help me track down any bugs.

Céruwine, at the moment, there aren't any translations for AVC, but if you'd like to make one, feel free to do so (and submit it when you're done so I can make it public!). However, since AVC 3 is almost finished, I am recommending that people wait for its release before making translations.

Is there a list of mods that use AVC?

------
Edit: OK, I see, there is no list.
I only find one mod - referral plus - support AVC.
Any other mods I didnt aware of? :roll:

I am aware that there are other MODs besides Referral Plus, and I have seen a few go through the queue that support it as well. However, as mentioned, I haven't tried to make a list.

However, the brand new system powering AVC 3, which is coming out REAL soon, should hopefully attract more MODs this way. ;)

I want to mention that AVC 3.0.0 development has released Release Candidate status. Although AVC 3 has not yet been validated (or submitted) to the MOD Database, it is now feature complete, and quite stable. Some of the major new features:
  • AVC now supports Categories Hierarchy 2.1.1-2.1.4 (by Ptirhiik) right out of the box, including the CH version checkers
  • Major code overhaul which greatly increases the speed and reliability of Advanced Version Check, as well as increased conformity to phpBB Standards
  • Brand new Version Check page layout which takes up less space and is capable of handling more info
  • AVC can now display Author Notes from the MOD author pertaining to a MOD's release directly within the Version Check page
  • Redesigned Enable/Disable Checkers page to conform to phpBB Standards and allow the ability to change the status of multiple checkers in one action
  • Advanced Version Check can now run version checks in the background when the AVC admin panels are not active
  • Advanced Version Check can send an e-mail to a specified address or all admins when a MOD is updated
  • AVC can send a private message to a specified user or all admins when a MOD is updated
  • AVC can insert a post in a specified forum when a MOD is updated
  • Brand new, extended Version Configuration panel
  • New AVC Update Log which can track past AVC actions and when a MOD was updated, including timestamps
Also, a new version checker system has been added to provide more flexibility for MOD Authors:
  • New retrievable file system written in valid XML 1.0
  • One retrievable file can be used to track a stable release line and a development release line of a MOD
  • MOD website and MOD download URLs are now specified in the retrievable file so they can be updated immediately whenever they change; AVC will update the links when they are retrieved
  • Authors Notes for a release can be specified in the retrievable file; AVC will display these in the Version Check page
  • AVC will now check at intervals; the option to check on each run of AVC has been removed to be kinder to bandwidth
AVC 3.0.0 is planned to be officially released and submitted Tuesday morning, however you are encouraged to try out the Release Candidate.
For any questions or comments about the new version, please see its development thread: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=341349

Thanks for using AVC!

I like to try this 3.0.0 version, but in the update directory that comes with it, there are only update files from version 213, 214, and 215.

I thought I used the latest version by running 205a

How do I update now to 3.0.0 ?

As I mentioned somewhere (though probably not here), AVC 3.0.0's code is almost completely different than AVC 2.0.x. Therefore, no upgrade path has been provided--you need to uninstall AVC 2 first. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

This SQL can be run to undo the AVC 2 database:

Code: Select all

DROP TABLE phpbb_version_check;
DROP TABLE phpbb_version_log;
For the rest of the uninstallation, this tutorial will help.

ok, no problem
I'm gonna uninstall then.

Only thing is that in my SQL I have

DROP TABLE phpbb_version_check;
DROP TABLE phpbb_version_config;

no

DROP TABLE phpbb_version_log;

:?:

That was a mistake! It should have said version_config, not version_log. :P

*sigh* AVC 3 is getting to my head...

I have a problem with version 3.0.0

there seems to be a problem with the changes you have to do in common.php

when I install this mod the forum is just a white screen
when I undo the changes in common.php the forum is back.

I also get white screens in the ACP on all the pages concerning this mod

Did you perform the bugfix that I indicated in the first post of this topic?

Thanks so much, either I'm going crazy or school has started. Or both.
I posted another bugfix.

It would have been nice to have had upgrades for earlier versions. I had 2.0.5 running so I had to uninstall before I could install. The install went smoothly though into my heavily modded 2.0.19 boards using EasyMod...
