Hey Swizec,

First, love the mod. Great job. Installed it with EM after a few tweaks due to some other mods I have installed. I'm almost ready to go live with the new clean code, however noticed a slight problem that 2 others have had in these 24 pages, but I can't seem to find a fix.

Installed
- phpBB2.0.19
- Save as Drafts Mod among others, but I think this is part of the problem.

Symptom
1. New post, enter description, submit, all works great. Now edit that same post, description is now missing. Cannot change it at all. Like it's not even there.

2. New post, enter description, save as draft. Go back to retrieve draft, description is not there just like above, can't change or even see it. Now gone from viewforum. (I'm sure this is a conflict with the two mods, however wanted to check)

I'm thinking its a posting.php problem, so here is what I have. Anyone notice a potential conflict here. I don't know php, but suspect the adding description is not reflected in some of the changes within the drafts mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't want to post the entire posting.php file, however here are some snippets where Save as Draft and Topic Descriptions seem to be together.

Code: Select all

// mod topic description: add

		$select_sql = (!$submit) ? ', t.topic_title,t.topic_description, t.topic_descmod, t.topic_icon, p.enable_bbcode, p.enable_html, p.enable_smilies, p.enable_sig, p.post_draft, p.post_username, pt.post_subject, p.post_icon, pt.post_text, pt.bbcode_uid, u.username, u.user_id, u.user_sig, u.user_sig_bbcode_uid' : '';
// start mod save posts as drafts (and end mod too) ... in the preceding line (definition of $select_sql), add reference to post_draft column in table

Code: Select all

// mod topic description add
$candesc = check_descperm ( );
if ( $candesc == AUTH_NODESC )
{
	$candesc = FALSE;
	$canmoddesc = FALSE;
}

}
elseif ( $candesc == AUTH_MODDESC )

// mod topic description end

//end mod save posts as drafts

	//
	// Confirm deletion

// start mod save posts as drafts...orignal definition was just the first part; changes so that if this was a draft, that fact gets passed on to the confirmation template so that it can return to post.php afterwards with that fact known
	$s_hidden_fields = ( !$was_a_draft ) ? '<input type="hidden" name="' . POST_POST_URL . '" value="' . $post_id . '" />' : '<input type="hidden" name="' . POST_POST_URL . '" value="' . $post_id . '" /><input type="hidden" name="was_a_draft" value="was_a_draft" />';
// end mod save posts as drafts

	$s_hidden_fields .= ( $delete || $mode == "delete" ) ? '<input type="hidden" name="mode" value="delete" />' : '<input type="hidden" name="mode" value="poll_delete" />';

	$l_confirm = ( $delete || $mode == 'delete' ) ? $lang['Confirm_delete'] : $lang['Confirm_delete_poll'];
Not sure if this helps, but can anyone tell me where I need to add the topic description variables in the save as draft and enable the edit of the topic description?

Now that I think of it some more, perhaps it's another file that is called to actually show the description when you are editing. Since edit does not work for posts that you submit or save as draft, maybe it's another problem.

Can anyone tell me where the code is to show the parameters and grab the data when you select to edit a post?

thanks,

Just manually installed the apealing TD mod 1.14.5 but have a couple of issues and not too sure why?

Search function on the board has an error which is leading to this added code in search.php from install descriptions:

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

. USERS_TABLE . " u2

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

u2

#
#-----[ IN-LINE AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#

. USERS_TABLE . " u2
In my version of phpbb 2.0.19 it throws an error:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/xjlmhiun/public_html/phpBB/search.php on line 836

When I try to amend code so its accepted the sql database throws an error.

this is the line of code I've interpreted from above instuctions:

Code: Select all

FROM " . TOPICS_TABLE . " t, " . FORUMS_TABLE . " f, " . USERS_TABLE . " u, " . POSTS_TABLE . " p, " . POSTS_TABLE . " p2, " . USERS_TABLE . " u2. USERS_TABLE . " u2

Anyone advise what this should be to work correctly?

My other issue is when I try to open a forum with many threads n posts it takes quite some time to open as aposed to before the mod, any advice please?

Can you post the original line of code? (what it said before you added the . USERS_TABLE . " u2)

@next.level: TD1.14.7 has the search thing fixed and possibly a few others.

@bobber: yeah it does seem like a conflict but I'm not entierly sure what could be causing it :S

@ trinta, swizec's pointed me in right direction :) .

@ Modders, I pulled version 1.14.5 from phpbb mods section couple of days ago, I'm not sure its been covered before but it's probably gonna crop up again until new version is validated could someone amend that section of code in search.php to this one found in Swizec's 1.14.7:

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

. USERS_TABLE . " u2

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

u2

#
#-----[ IN-LINE AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#

, " . POSTS_TEXT_TABLE . " pt

@ swizec or anyone, I couldn't find this line of code in viewforum.php on my board

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

AND t.topic_type = " . POST_ANNOUNCE . "
The only thing similar was/is:

Code: Select all

AND t.topic_type BETWEEN " . POST_STICKY . " AND " . POST_ANNOUNCE . "

What version of phpbb are you using, it's possibly a difference between versions...

I feel this is a ridiculously silly question, but I can't seem to straighten this out, myself, and can't find a similar problem to go by:

I've just installed TD, and it works swell, but when I go in to edit a user in the ACP, any changes I try to make result in this:

Code: Select all

Admin_user_fail

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' user_showtooltips = 0, user_tooltips_parse = 0, user_tooltips_

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_password = 'd5197d93c063a2b1e22d1630a39b7aef', user_email = 'jxxxxxxx@msn.com', user_icq = '', user_website = '', user_occ = '', user_from = '', user_interests = '', user_name_first = '', user_name_last = '', user_sig = '', user_viewemail = 0, user_aim = '', user_yim = '', user_msnm = '', user_attachsig = 1, user_sig_bbcode_uid = '', user_allowsmile = 1, user_allowhtml = 1, user_allowavatar = 0, user_allowdesc = 1, user_allowmoddesc = 1, user_showdescriptions = , user_showtooltips = 0, user_tooltips_parse = 0, user_tooltips_static = 0, user_toolimg_width = 0, user_toolimg_height = 0, user_allowbbcode = 1, user_allow_viewonline = 1, user_notify = 0, user_allow_pm = 1, user_posts = 0, user_notify_pm = 1, user_popup_pm = 1, user_lang = 'english', user_style = 1, user_timezone = -5, user_dateformat = 'D M d, Y g:i a', user_active = 1, user_rank = 0 WHERE user_id = 149

Line : 786
File : admin_users.php
It's clear to me that the value for user_showdescriptions = , is missing, but I'm not sure where to look to see where my coding may have been off...also, I noted that in my ACP, the user had his showdescritpnios set at "no"?

Perhaps there's something missing here?:

Code: Select all

// mod topic description mod add
		$user_allowdesc = ( !empty($HTTP_POST_VARS['user_allowdesc']) ) ? intval( $HTTP_POST_VARS['user_allowdesc'] ) : 0;
		$user_allowmoddesc = ( !empty($HTTP_POST_VARS['user_allowmoddesc']) ) ? intval( $HTTP_POST_VARS['user_allowmoddesc'] ) : 0;
		$showtooltips = ( isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['showtooltips']) ) ? ( ($HTTP_POST_VARS['showtooltips']) ? TRUE : 0 ) : $buserdata['user_show_tooltips'];
		$tooltips_static = ( isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['tooltips_static']) ) ? ( ($HTTP_POST_VARS['tooltips_static']) ? TRUE : 0 ) : $userdata['user_tooltips_static'];
		$tooltips_parse = ( isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['tooltips_parse']) ) ? ( ($HTTP_POST_VARS['tooltips_parse']) ? TRUE : 0 ) : $userdata['user_tooltips_parse'];
		$toolimg_width = ( isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['toolimg_width']) ) ? ( ($HTTP_POST_VARS['toolimg_width']) ? TRUE : 0 ) : $userdata['user_toolimg_width'];
		$toolimg_height = ( isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['toolimg_height']) ) ? ( ($HTTP_POST_VARS['toolimg_height']) ? TRUE : 0 ) : $userdata['user_toolimg_height'];
		// mod topic description mod end?
Any ideas as to what I may have missed?

Hey Swizec, wanted to let you know I'm another person for whom this has stopped working after a manual (code changes) update to 2.0.20. The descriptions show on the viewforum page, but there is no longer any place to add a description when posting a new thread.

Ok, seems to be a conflict with the update, will work it out over the weekend, or possibly tonight if there's time.

Thanks for letting me know

Believe me. You are wrong.
Try to check your admin panel.
You will get this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ';' in /forum-test/admin/admin_ug_auth.php on line 113

There is a big bug in code of version 1.14.8

Here is the full part

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#

admin/admin_ug_auth.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

$forum_auth_fields

#

#

// mod topic description add to array

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

);

#
#-----[ IN-LINE BEFORE, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#

, 'auth_desc', 'auth_moddesc', 'auth_tooltip'

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

$field_names

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

);

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

);

#
#-----[ IN-LINE REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#

,

#
#-----[ AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#

// mod topic description add
'auth_desc' => AUTH_DESC,
'auth_moddesc' => AUTH_MODDESC,
'auth_tooltip' => AUTH_TOOLTIP);
// mod topic description end

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

);

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

);

#
#-----[ IN-LINE REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#

,

#
#-----[ AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#

// mod topic description mod add
'auth_desc' => $lang['desc'],
'auth_moddesc' => $lang['moddesc'],
'auth_tooltip' => $lang['tooltip']);
// mod topic description mod end
The bug is in line:

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

$field_names
It must be:

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

$auth_field_match
As the origianl code in
admin/admin_ug_auth.php

looks like:

Code: Select all

//
// Start program - define vars
//
$forum_auth_fields = array('auth_view', 'auth_read', 'auth_post', 'auth_reply', 'auth_edit', 'auth_delete', 'auth_sticky', 'auth_announce', 'auth_vote', 'auth_pollcreate');

$auth_field_match = array(
	'auth_view' => AUTH_VIEW,
	'auth_read' => AUTH_READ,
	'auth_post' => AUTH_POST,
	'auth_reply' => AUTH_REPLY,
	'auth_edit' => AUTH_EDIT,
	'auth_delete' => AUTH_DELETE,
	'auth_sticky' => AUTH_STICKY,
	'auth_announce' => AUTH_ANNOUNCE,
	'auth_vote' => AUTH_VOTE,
	'auth_pollcreate' => AUTH_POLLCREATE);

$field_names = array(
	'auth_view' => $lang['View'],
	'auth_read' => $lang['Read'],
	'auth_post' => $lang['Post'],
	'auth_reply' => $lang['Reply'],
	'auth_edit' => $lang['Edit'],
	'auth_delete' => $lang['Delete'],
	'auth_sticky' => $lang['Sticky'],
	'auth_announce' => $lang['Announce'],
	'auth_vote' => $lang['Vote'],
	'auth_pollcreate' => $lang['Pollcreate']);

// ---------------
// Start Functions
//
function check_auth($type, $key, $u_access, $is_admin)
{
	$auth_user = 0;

	if( count($u_access) )
	{
		for($j = 0; $j < count($u_access); $j++)
Very strange why this error was not pointed before...

------------------

Also about english in admin panel.

There are two lines:

Code: Select all

$lang['desc_tolink'] = 'All descriptions show as a link to the starters profile. This obbeys permissions.';
$lang['desc_linkforce'] = 'All descriptions are turned into a link. This overrides permissions.';
I was thinking for 20 minutes about the difference.

So I think the right description must be:

Code: Select all

$lang['desc_tolink'] = 'All descriptions show as a link to the starters profile. This obbeys permissions.';
$lang['desc_linkforce'] = ''All descriptions show as a link to the starters profile. This overrides permissions.';
Because words:
All descriptions are turned into a link.
are not understandable as user can't understand what link and where.

For the most part, this mod seesm to function on my modded 2.0.20, however, I continue to have the issue mentioned above. I cannot update a users information without the error:

Code: Select all

Admin_user_fail

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' user_showtooltips = 0, user_tooltips_parse = 0, user_tooltips_

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_password = 'd5197d93c063a2b1e22d1630a39b7aef', user_email = 'jxxxxxxx@msn.com', user_icq = '', user_website = '', user_occ = '', user_from = '', user_interests = '', user_name_first = '', user_name_last = '', user_sig = '', user_viewemail = 0, user_aim = '', user_yim = '', user_msnm = '', user_attachsig = 1, user_sig_bbcode_uid = '', user_allowsmile = 1, user_allowhtml = 1, user_allowavatar = 0, user_allowdesc = 1, user_allowmoddesc = 1, user_showdescriptions = , user_showtooltips = 0, user_tooltips_parse = 0, user_tooltips_static = 0, user_toolimg_width = 0, user_toolimg_height = 0, user_allowbbcode = 1, user_allow_viewonline = 1, user_notify = 0, user_allow_pm = 1, user_posts = 0, user_notify_pm = 1, user_popup_pm = 1, user_lang = 'english', user_style = 1, user_timezone = -5, user_dateformat = 'D M d, Y g:i a', user_active = 1, user_rank = 0 WHERE user_id = 149

Line : 786
File : admin_users.php
I have however, found that THIS addition to the "$sql = "UPDATE " . USERS_TABLE . ""line is the culprit

Code: Select all

user_allowdesc = $user_allowdesc, user_allowmoddesc = $user_allowmoddesc, user_showdescriptions = $showdescriptions, user_showtooltips = $showtooltips, user_tooltips_parse = $tooltips_parse, user_tooltips_static = $tooltips_static, user_toolimg_width = $toolimg_width, user_toolimg_height = $toolimg_height,
OR, at least, when I mark it out, things work AOK...

Any ideas??[/code]

OK, to update you Swizec - the problem wasn't what I thought; it turns out that in Private forums, the Desc settings need to be set to All (I'd had them set to Private like the other permissions). So, with the manual upgrade from 2.0.19, and using version 1.14.5 of this MOD, I'm having no problems. I will shortly update to the newest version of this MOD and let you know if I have any problems.
