MOD Validated/Released

Notes:
This MOD will try to validate if an email address is a valid one during registration. A good tool to stop wanted signing-up.

3Di,

It checks the username on the given mail-host name, i.e. 'does this mailbox exist on this domain?' - a simple split of the email address around the @ sign. If there are any MX records found it uses those, else the TLD itself. All done using standard SMTP - there's no 'checking a db', in Yahoo or anywhere else.

MennoniteHobbit,

Cheers! 8)

No need. Just add them to the list in the ACP under 'ban control' ;)

If you ban an email with the normal Ban Control, no one can register with the domain anyway. Use something like *@tld.com .

I had already banned the domain name. I wasn't sure if users could still register with it

In any case (with or without this MOD), guests won't be able to proceed with their registrations using banned domian names in their registration emails.

3Di,
Does this works also with CH RC4?

Yup, won't conflict at all, and it's my belief that it won't conflict with any other MODs whatsoever (barring any that try to do the same thing as this one) *.

CH and other MODs like it change the way the forum looks or is laid out. LEV changes the required parameters for email address submission. This happens before anyone needs to worry about what the place looks like, first they have to get in! :D

* Conflict with Signatures Control 1.0.0em - disables all user-verification in usercp_register.php. If you want LEV to work, remove/undo this MOD.
