Sorry for asking such a newbie question...

I would like to add this mod to the board, but I am stuck with the first line. I know where all the other changes go, just not this one:

Code: Select all

___________[ SQL ]____________________________________________
ALTER TABLE phpbb_users ADD user_regip CHAR (8) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0';
Can you tell I am new at this?
Thanks.

redrider - good luck!

BWOL - try pluggint the SQL query into sql.phpmix.com, reading the directions, and running the resultant script.

Bob in Iowa - thanks! :)

I have not been able to get this MOD to work. I still get 0.0.0.0 on all new member registrations.

I have double checked the mods on each file and I can see that the table was changed in the database.

However, I was wondering would the Able2Know SEO mod I currently have installed prevent this mod from working? Part of the SEO mod removes the sessions function for unregistered users.

Hopefully you are familiar with the Able2know mod. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On a virgin phpBB 2.0.22, I installed this MOD and then replaced my usercp_register.php and admin_users.php files with yours. I then modified the code that the humanizer had added and tried to register. And everything worked.

This demonstrates that there's nothing wrong with the files whose source you posted. Unfortunately, those are also the only two files where this problem could be.

As such, if you want this problem fixed, you'll have to, via PM, give me a temp. FTP account. I can't debug a problem I can't see and I can't duplicate your problem, myself.

I've tried installing this mod and it seems that the encoded IP is entered into the database, but when I view the user in the admin section it just prints out a colon after where it should print the Registration_IP variable and nothing for the IP address?

I've triple checked the relevant files but I can't see anything wrong, any likely causes?

Post by graphicsbybcd »

I am kind of new to php, could someone walk me through this in more detail and also does this work really good?

Thanks

It works very good, logs the IP address of users when they register.. like Olympus does. What's for? For example you'll have all the IP addresses of your new users.. spammers included. ;)

I've found also this useful for a MOD of mine, it helps in correctly recognizing the Countries users come from (using IPs) to display the correct Country Flags.

The problem is that, for whatever, reason, "$user_ip = encode_ip($client_ip);" had been deleted from your common.php file. If a MOD did this, I would reconsider the worth of that MOD, because that kinda weakens your boards security (basically, it means that anyone can hijack someone else's session, whereas otherwise, session hijacking would have been practically impossible).

Thank you so much for the help.

I'll have to go back and see which MOD changed that part of the file.

It works now.

Thanks again,
Ray

Is there anywhere we can download this MOD while the phpBB.com database is down?
MythicalRealmRPG.net! A roleplaying site for adult writers!
LCNA - A mafia-themed text-based roleplaying game for all ages!
