MOD Name: Resync forum ids Author:Manipe MOD Description: This MOD resyncs the forum and category ids in your forum, ordering the forums by category and then by the order they appear in, and ordering the categories in the order they appear in the index.
Nice, but doing so will effect your search engine results if a forum with an ID of 8 is about games and you change it from ID 8 to 5 for example, then when a search engine spiders forum ID 8 again it will take them to another forum unrelated to games right? Excellent mod but I want to make sure of this before I change my forum IDs that are indexed high on search engines.
Yes, that would be right.
Unless you change the forum you want to be number 8 to the eighth forum in the list.
Then the forum id would stay as 8, but otherwise it would be changed.
Another thing you could do is change the forum to the eighth forum, and then after you resync, just change it back to its original place. The other forums would be resynced, but your other forum would be alright.

I just ran this script and it worked perfectly and quickly too. It did remove the high PR from my forum category, and I had to update static links leading to forums from other sites, but I knew that risk before I ran it. I figured it was now or never.
Could you add a user id and group resync as well? One last thing, is it my imagination or does this speed up the forum load time? It seems as though the pages are loading up more quickly now.
