The most common problems with this mod (and most mods) are from people who do not know how to install their mods on templates other than the standard subSilver. Mods are only required to work on a clean subSilver board. Anything after that is the responsibility of the board user who wishes to install a mod on their board and have it work with other templates.

Please check through the thread first. I know there are hundreds of pages, but this FAQ is the FOURTH post on the FIRST page. Question three answers this most common problem in relation to this mod, and most mods.
pentapenguin wrote: FAQs
Q: EasyMOD can't find the Simple Subforums install file.
A: The Simple Subforums install file for EasyMOD is in the contrib directory. Move simple_subforums_1.0.2.txt from the contrib folder to the simple_subforums_1.0.2 folder. So move simple_subforums_1.0.2/contrib/simple_subforums_1.0.2.txt to simple_subforums_1.0.2/simple_subforums_1.0.2.txt.

Q. Okay, I got this installed, how do I make a subforum? There's no option!
A. Yes there is. ;) You just need to go to your admin admin panel->Forum Admin->Management. From there, click on the "Edit" link next to a forum, and select the parent (main) forum from the "Category / Forum" dropdown box. That's all!

Q. I need help installing this on other styles!
A. Sorry, but I am unable to provide help for installing on every style out there -- it's impossible. Just try installing it yourself. The key to installing on non-subSilver files is to look for template variables. i.e. {SOMETHING} -- in other words, capital letters in braces. Some of the HTML code (the stuff in the <blah> tags) is different but the template variables are the same. Once you find a template variable you can try FINDing or ADD, AFTERing.

Q. Is this MOD EasyMOD compatible?
A. Yes, it should be. I tried my best to make it work with any phpBB installation but you could run into problems. If EasyMOD says that it couldn't FIND something, just cut the problematic FIND statement out (and it's related other action like AFTER, ADD) and do it manually.

That's just CSS code, so you would add it in templates/AcidBloodTech/style or AcidBloodTech or whatever.css :) subSilver has that code in overall_header, but most other styles do not.

Just add it to the end of the file.

Always back-up your files before MODing. If you're unfamiliar with MODing other templates, and want to add MODs, here is my suggestion. Start with smaller simpler MODs, and do them manually. That way you can get a feel of how things work, and the coding of your templates. Then start doing other more difficult MODs. Use Easy MOD for the big MODs and manually edit your other templates, and files with critical Errors ('cause MODs will change code that new MODs are looking for). It's a learning process everyone needs to go through, and it's best not to start with large MODs.

Hello

I have installed the extreme styles mod and then this mod, both manually and now I am getting this error message

Fatal error: Call to undefined function encode_ip() in/home/xxxxx/public_html/phpBB2/common.php on line 216

I have searched these forums for a solution to no avail. I have double checked the files to make sure I have edited them correctly and I have also checked function.php and the relevant code is present for the encode_ip.

How can I define this function or fix this problem.

Thanks in advance

I installed this mod, after I installed the xtreme styles mod. I have no errors, which is good, but I am having a problem getting the subforums to display correctly on the index.php page. Rather than try to describe it, here are some screen captures:

Image
Everything looks good in the ACP

Image
All is good inside of the parent forum

Image
All is good inside of the sub-forum

Image
But on the index.php the subforum is apprearing as a parent forum...
I installed manually, and have double checked the code. What could be causing this?

Also, when in all of the parent forums, after installing this mod, there are double aarows. This happens in every forum, even ones that I have never installed a sub-forum in. This is just visual, my main concern is getting the index.php to display correctly.

any thoughts on this? http://civic-eg.com/index.php is the forum

Here's another test I did that shows another part of the problem...
I added 2 subforums in a parent forum:

everything is good, except for the index.php. Not only did it add them as Parent forums, it also adds them at the bottom of the list, even though they were subforums of "Europe"

I have removed this mod due to the lack of response received and the issues it has caused to my board.

Hi Everyone,

I'm having trouble with the order of my forums. I keep hitting move up or down on a particular forum but its not appearing the way I want it to. For example...

Board 1
Board 5
Board 2
Board 3
Board 4

But when I'm trying to move 5 under 4 it won't go anywhere. Is there any way to fix this? I tried adding in Resync Forum Ids but I lost quite a few of my board and it threw other boards all over the place. I have simple subforums installed so I'm not sure if it clashed.

Thanks

PS- In my previous post about this I was told I should post this problem here so sorry if that was incorrect

I have installed the extreme styles mod and then this mod, both manually and now I am getting this error message

Fatal error: Call to undefined function encode_ip() in/home/xxxxx/public_html/phpBB2/common.php on line 216

Thanks in advance

Ros, you have somehow deleted the function encode_ip() from includes/functions.php when you made the edits for this MOD.

civic-eg,
The most common reason for the subforums to show as regular forums on the index page, is that eXtreme Styles has not been installed or the files got corrupted when uploaded. Secondly, check your edits in index_body.tpl and index.phhp.

Panther2006,
Not being able to move the boards was a problem with version 1.0.1 of this MOD. Upgrading to version 1.0.2b should solve your problem.

need a little help

i have installed simple subforums, and it works fine

i only have one problem i can not solve

if you click on the forum where the subforums are, you come into a empty forum
it dont show the subforums
the only way to enter the subforum is by clicking on them on the front page
(hard to explain)
please view my public part of the forum, and tell me what i have done wrong

You did not make the Simple Subforums edits on templates/Glass/viewforum_body.tpl
