I installed this mode on my forum .. (my forum is heavily modded (I dont' even remember that how much mods) but bcz of its simplicity.. it worked.. One thing I just want more that.. is it possible it to give mod_rewrite URL in output since I have mod_rewrite installed on my forum with keyword in URL.
That mod was some modification in page_header.php and page_tail.php and .htaccess modification..

Any idea how can I make ur RSS mode display URL as per my forum ? (I hv limited knowledge of php)

Thanks for this brilliant mod

I also have mod_rewrite installed, it would be great if someone has an update for this.

Brilliant mod. Absolutely brilliant!

One of the things i find most useful is, that you can choose only to just have one of your forums as a feed. I am not sure all the users know this though.

If you go to this page http://www.kunsport.dk/ and click on the icon in the address bar, you can see all the different feeds avaliable. It could be cool, if you could do something like this on the RSS Syndication mod.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this??

I figured this part out myself. If you edit templates/x-template/overall_header.tpl you can find the line:

Code: Select all

<link rel="alternate" title="{L_RSS}" href="{U_RSS}" type="application/rss+xml">
If you enter another line you suddently have two options. And you can keep on doing this as many times as you like.

Code: Select all

<link rel="alternate" title="{L_RSS}" href="{U_RSS}" type="application/rss+xml">
<link rel="alternate" title="FORUM-4" href="...//rss.php?f=4" type="application/rss+xml">
But is this a good idea? I dont really know anything about php or rss, so I have no clue on whether or not I am doing something stupid?

And what does the prefixes {L_RSS} and {U_RSS} lead to?? I cant find the lines in any of the other files related to my phpbb

Theres some forums that he show all the last 15 topics, theres other that only appear 3 or 4 and theres others that just dont show anything at all in rss.
I dint change anything on this mod, not even in phpbb2, he just freaked up with no reason.

My website is this http://www.desinibidas.com/forum ( Atention Adult Content )
U can find this image Image at the footer to see the rss of the specific forum.

Can u help me on this please?

I've been having some troubles trying to get this to work. In my RSS feed itself, it won't show any posts at all under it, it just says (Empty). I went under my RSS admin and set it to 15, but after I applied it, it reset itself back to 0.

Any ideas?

*EDIT* Alright, I think I know what the problem is. It's with phpbb_config.

I'm in phpMyAdmin right now, and I'm looking at it. I see the config_name and config_value.

What the hell do I do now?

Problems setting up rss_mod_1.0.4

Hi there, MSSQL problem.
instructions = INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value)
VALUES ('rss_image', '');
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value)
VALUES ('max_rss_topics', '15');

I tried could not get the ' ' marks to be recognised so did not insert them. i now have extra lines in my config i wish to delete but do not know how too. any Ideas ?
These are the lines i have inserted.

Code: Select all
config_name config_value
rss_image rss_image
rss_image
max_rss_topics, 15 max_rss_topics, 15
rss_image rss_image
VALUES (rss_image, '); VALUES (rss_image, ');
VALUES (max_rss_topics, 15); VALUES (max_rss_topics, 15);
VALUES (rss_image, ); VALUES (rss_image, );

The Fead Reader will not work / find the feeds

I'm in the process of setting up a board using phpBB 2.0.22.

Can someone please advise me if this mod works with 2.0.22 (I see it's compatible with 2.0.19).

Apologies if this is a dumb question, I'm a complete novice.

TIA

I really recommend you to install phpbb3 instead, it´s not a final stable version, but at least it´s the last RC.

What means last RC?

Well, it means that for now it will not suffer any changes on the source code, but could suffer any eventual update, to fix possible bugs encountered.

Phpbb2 it´s a powerful system, but phpbb3 it´s a new world, and i think you must try.

Im about to migrate to phpbb3 ;)

Here are some option i sugest you:

Phpbb 3 RC7 [ Full Package ]
Phpbb3 Documentation
phpBB3 support forum

If you want your forum to be Search Engine Optimization friendly and since you are about to install a fresh installation i sugest you this version: (3rd Party Site)

Phpbb 3 RC7 + Seo Premod [ Full Package ]
phpBB SEO Premod V 3.0.RC7 Info

If you want to install other template (non default phpbb3 template), please make this changes to your template(s), (only if you choose the Seo premodded)
Seo Premodded changes for other templates

It´s the best choice you could make at this moment ;)

Thanks, but I think it would be better for me to wait until a stable version's released. I'm no expert - and I've got enough grey hairs already :)

Alright then, answering your first question.

I sugest you this:
http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/gym-sit ... -vt21.html

It´s always updated to the last version of phpbb, and yeah it´s for phpbb2, sadly there isnt for phpbb3
yet.

Nigel,
I give you another advice! Install this rss mod by Lucky Luke, it's great... I've been using it since it came out and google, yahoo and others simply love it!! ;)
