I also got "white screen problems" when choosing compression.
I got here the error log from the server and too bad it doesnt have a timestamp, so i copied the complete cgi error log generated by the host

No, this has nothing to do with the amount of storage space provided by the web hosting, but rather with the amount of RAM that PHP is allowed to allocate on the server.

Martemorte, try using the "None" compression method since that won't attempt to use any compression so (most likely) will not cause these kind of errors. The upcoming release of the MOD will be able to automatically adjust itself to prevent these kind of errors from occurring but I have no idea when I will have time available to actually finish it.

if you still have trouble and you have access to your php.ini file increase the value in this line

memory_limit = 8M; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (8MB)

to 20M or more if it is needed. If you do not have access to you php.ini contact host and ask them to increase memory limit or simple place this line at the top of your script

ini_set("memory_limit","20M");

Bloody host made access to php.ini hidden :)
But I managed to get access, I increased memory and than I hand "zend" errors, so had to edit zend version from the host.
Memory change didnt worked out so edited every memory option and that worked :)
I had no more errors in the log.
Now the only things remain if it backups everything (which it didnt).
But that will be tested later. Need to go earn money first

Re: [2.0.20] SQL Backup

Post by jlenko »

Can I use this mod to transfer part of the database, after the basic tables have already been transferred?

Here's my situation... After a falling-out with our previous hosting provider, we moved servers (and domain names) from http://www.bcjbody.ca to http://www.bcgme.ca. I copied over all the files from the server (I only have FTP access at http://www.bcjbody.ca), and did a backup of the files from the ACP. Then I copied all the files, and used bigdump.php to restore the database over at http://www.bcgme.ca... then used Fix Cookies.php to fix the pointers. Everything was running fine (or so I thought!).

All was well for the last two days, until I went to the Garage... there's nothing there! I understand why (because the Backup Database in the ACP doesn't get the tables created for MOD's)... Unfortunately... I don't have a way into the cpanel (never was given the password) and I don't have sql access. Just FTP and ACP.. that's it.

I can install this mod into both forums, but will it do what I need? The rest of the data has already been transferred to the new host... and has been used for the last two days (why I didn't think to check everything... DOH!!)

I need to be able to backup and restore just the phpbb_garage entries in the database... I've checked the other mods (one being Log Registration IP) and everything's fine... just the Garage stuff that didn't get backed up by the ACP Backup Database function.

I guess the tricky bit is... can I add the data from the phpbb_garage (from the old forum) to the new database without wrecking everything? :)

Thanks...

Yes, this will work fine for that. You can select exactly which tables you want to backup.

The aforementioned problem is resolved (thanks very much!!) but when I transferred the files in my /forums folder to the new host... I introduced a new problem...

I click on Backup Database in the ACP. Then the screen pops up where tables are supposed to appear. But there are no tables on the new forum... none. At all.

If I click Create Backup anyway... I get this:
Warning: rename(backups/dbe6248a89b70d079ab3adebe4c7ecb4_backup.sql,backups/sql_1178519393.sql): No such file or directory in /home/content/b/c/g/bcgme/html/forums/admin/admin_backup.php on line 421

I used the Download Backups feature to delete the two backups I'd made (and copied over). They're now gone... but the thing won't work at all now... I've deleted and re-installed all the files... no luck.

It's as if there's something stuck in $userdata['session_id'] which won't reset...

Any ideas?

In ACP, I select all the tables to back up, but when its finished, its missing a few tables...I have to select the missing one and back up again. is it normal ? Because before it backed up all the tables when I checked mark on all the table in ACP...Any idea for me ? anyone has better backup Mod to share with me ? Thanks in advance..

Hi all, guys !!
I've using this mod for a while and everything was working beautifully (backing up my 120MB database) until yesterday...

Yesterday I moved my forum to a new server. Now, when I try to create a full backup and tell the mod to create a zip, I end up with a blank screen after a while. It even happens when I deselect the search tables. The only way I managed to take a backup was by leaving outside the search tables and setting compression to none...

So, could you please tell me what to tell to my host in order to continue backing up as I used to, before??
My mods in MODDB:

If you need support click on the support tab there and post your question.
Do not PM me - chances of viewing my PMs are way thinner than viewing the support question in the customization DB...

I have had a similar problem that all of a sudden happened as well this year. What I have been able to determine so far is that the difficulty lies in backing up the phpbb_posts_text file. It starts to back up and about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through it stops and the screen goes weird and never finishes. Doesn't seem to matter what method of back-up is used.

Everything else backs up fine.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I am using version 2.0.22.
