Yes and no actually... your database isn't too big for the MOD, but the problem is that PHP can't load the database in its memory to zip it. I personally never had this problem even with a 1 GB database, but it seems to happen on a very few servers with low resources.

I'll look into it as it has to be fixed somehow...

I'm afraid I won't be able to fix it... What PHP does is it loads the entire .sql file into the memory and then zips it. As far as I know, this can't be done in parts :(

The current version of the MOD is not yet able to restore a database, but this feature will certainly be added once I have that odd thing called "spare time" again :)

I have to deal with quite large database very often. The very best solution to restore such a big file I found is BigDump

Maybe it could be a good idea to put together this great two scripts ?

I'm working on a restore feature which is nearing completion :) It has to be written anyway as I'm taking care of the Olympus Backup/Restore CCP.

I'm having the same problem where the backup hangs when it gets to the additional tables (deleted the line $table_name = '<b>' . $table_name . '</b>'; as previously suggested).

Any solutions?

Yup, the problem has been fixed in the new version, which is currently waiting to be validated by the MOD team :)

Will wait for the new release with interest.

Does this release also include the restore function?

No, this release only fixes a few bugs which prevented the MOD from doing its work properly :)

Vic,
I installed your mod using easymod and got the following error message when I tried to run it:

Template->make_filename(): Error - file admin/backup_progress.tpl does not exist

Any suggestions?

Make sure you copy all of the template files to your appropiate template, remember to upload the template files into the /{TEMPLATE}/admin folder.

Okies... note that the version you just installed will not be able to add non-phpBB tables to the backup without some modifications (see the first page of this topic) but the update should be released by the MOD Team pretty soon.

If you are running a nix based server (like me) and you have ssh or telnet access wouldn't it be easier to just create a cron job to do a nightly backup for you. If you don't have ssh usually tech support will do it for you if you ask. And I am sure for a windows machine you could create a .bat and .com file, run it as a scheduled job.

Of course, but most hosting providers don't allow cron jobs ;)

Hi Vic,

I got this message with a 130+MB database :

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 137276448 bytes) in ........./forum/admin/admin_backup.php on line 288

I think it's the same problem as discussed above.
