Hi there,

I love to install it to my forum but I have the CSS Head menu mod installed. When you have a chance, would you please let me know how do I edit this over_header.tpl file.

Code: Select all

<!-- bloody_nOOb`s CSS HeaderMenu 0.1 -->
<table hspace="3" width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
  <tr>
<td height="28" align="left" nowrap class="men" valign="center">
<!-- ENABLE NEXT ITEM IF YOU GOT A PORTAL SYSTEM INSTALLED!!!! -->
	<a href="{U_PORTAL}" class="men" >Home</a>
    <a href="{U_INDEX}" class="men" >Community</a>
    <a href="{U_ALBUM}" class="men" >Gallery Album</a>
  <!-- BEGIN switch_user_logged_out -->
	  <a href="{U_REGISTER}" class="men" >{L_REGISTER}</a>
  <!-- END switch_user_logged_out -->
    <a href="{U_PRIVATEMSGS}" class="men">{PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO}</a>
	  <a href="{U_FAQ}" class="men" >{L_FAQ}</a>
	  <a href="{U_SEARCH}" class="men" >{L_SEARCH}</a>
  <!-- BEGIN switch_memberlist -->
	  <a href="{U_MEMBERLIST}" class="men" >{L_MEMBERLIST}</a>
 	<!-- END switch_user_logged_out -->
  <!-- BEGIN switch_user_logged_in -->
    <a href="{U_GROUP_CP}" class="men" >{L_USERGROUPS}</a>
  	<!-- END switch_memberlist -->
  <!-- BEGIN switch_user_logged_in -->
    <a href="{U_PROFILE}" class="men" >{L_PROFILE}</a>
  <!-- END switch_user_logged_out -->
  <a href="{U_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" class="men" >{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>
</td>
 </tr>
</table>
Thank you so much,

What template are you using and what browser version? give a link so I can see it.

That's is a strange javascript problem...
Any news on this?

You can try this

find this in your overall_header.tpl

Code: Select all

<a href="{U_SEARCH}" class="men" >{L_SEARCH}</a>
and replace it with this

Code: Select all

     <a onclick="return searchTooltip();" href="{U_SEARCH}" id="searchlink" class="men" >{L_SEARCH}</a>
						<div id="searchbox" style="display:none;z-index: 100;">
						<form action="{S_SEARCH_ACTION}" method="POST">
						<table class="forumline" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1" border="0">
						  <tr>
						    <th class="thHead" height="25"><a onclick="searchTooltip(); return false;" href="#" style="float:right;color: #FFF;font-size: 9px;font-family:Verdana, sans-serif; text-decoration: none;">(X)</a>{L_SEARCH_QUERY}</th>
						  </tr>
						  <tr>
						    <td class="row1" align="center">
						      <input type="text" style="width: 180px" class="post" name="search_keywords" size="30" /> <input class="liteoption" type="submit" value="{L_SEARCH}" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_terms" value="all" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_forum" value="-1" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_time" value="0" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_cat" value="-1" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="sort_by" value="0" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="sort_dir" value="ASC" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="show_results" value="posts" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="return_chars" value="200" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_fields" value="all" />
						    </td>
						  </tr>
						  <tr>
						    <td class="catBottom" align="center">
							  <a href="{U_SEARCH}" class="nav">{L_ADVANCED_SEARCH}</a>
							</td>
						  </tr>
						</table>
						</form>
						</div>
make sure to do a backup first and I have no idea if that will work or not.

irene_haydon wrote: Hi,

I have installed this mod and it works wonderfully on my bord (2.0.20, subsilver). I have a question .. when we search using the box, all the search results are displayed as posts [Display results as:Posts], can we change some thing so that results are displayed as Topics. I tried it by changing following codes:

Code: Select all

<input type="hidden" name="show_results value="posts" />
to

Code: Select all

<input type="hidden" name="show_results value="Topics" />
I also tried using "topics" , but it also didn't work and still dispaly results as posts. Please let me know how can it be done.

Thanks.
Irene

Please point me in the right direction

Post by wintersmith »

I know you don't provide support for non-subSilver templates, but I'm hoping you or someone can point me in the right direction to solve this problem.

I installed the mod and got it working beautifully in subSilver, then proceeded to rewrite the overall header template. Now, the box still shows up on onClick, but the Search page loads at the same time. I've checked and re-checked the changes I've made, and it doesn't seem to be the external stylesheet or the CSS box for the search.

One possibility that does occur to me is that the Javascript doesn't like the CSS positioning of elements on my template. But since I know nada about js, I'm hesitant to start swinging wildly at it.

Anyone have advice? You can see the header on a very incomplete page here: http://www.expatexposed.com/forum

In my board the script in overall_header.tpl

Code: Select all

<a onclick="return searchTooltip();" href="search.php">
is:

Code: Select all

<a onclick="return searchTooltip();" href="search.php" id="searchlink">
Try it. Maybe it helps... :roll:
Or maybe some in the form...
Your is:

Code: Select all

<input type="text" style="width: 180px" class="post" name="search_keywords" size="30" /> <input type="submit" value="Search" />
		<input type="hidden" name="search_terms" value="all" />
		<input type="hidden" name="search_forum" value="-1" />
		<input type="hidden" name="search_time" value="0" />
		<input type="hidden" name="search_cat value="-1" />
		<input type="hidden" name="sort_by value="0" />
		<input type="hidden" name="sort_dir value="ASC" />
		<input type="hidden" name="show_results value="posts" />
		<input type="hidden" name="return_chars value="200" />
		<input type="hidden" name="search_fields" value="all" /><br />
		<a href="search.php" class="nav">Advanced Search</a>
	</form>
</div>
My is:

Code: Select all

<input type="text" style="width: 180px" class="post" name="search_keywords" size="30" /> <input class="liteoption" type="submit" value="Търсене" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_terms" value="all" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_forum" value="-1" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_time" value="0" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_cat value="-1" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="sort_by value="0" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="sort_dir value="ASC" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="show_results value="posts" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="return_chars value="200" />
						      <input type="hidden" name="search_fields" value="all" />
						    </td>
						  </tr>
						  <tr>
						    <td class="catBottom" align="center">
							  <a href="search.php" class="nav">Advanced Search</a>
							</td>
						  </tr>
						</table>
                                                                    </form>
						</div>
Maybe you must correct here:

Code: Select all

                       <tr>
                      <td class="catBottom" align="center">
                       <a href="search.php" class="nav">Advanced Search</a>
                     </td>
                    </tr>
All my templates are too different from subSilver. If you want, you can see http://wasteland-bg.com/

Hi diabolic,

[groan] I stared and stared at the backup, and somehow didn't see that missing id. That has the box popping up and staying, as it should. Thank you for getting my head un-messed.

I wish I could say problem solved, but now I have this weird problem with the search box popping up about 120px down and 150px to the right of where it should be.

Aha! Update! It was the header js. I changed the position from 'absolute' to 'static', and problem solved!
