Did you read "How to SECURELY access modification downloads" announcement?

I am having the same problem, tried to read it, and was given the message "You are not authorised to read this forum" when I tried.

You may want to look into the Anti-Spam ACP instead. ;)

Hi,

I installed the MOD, but the spambots still get registered, just not activated. I was under the impression that they wouldn't even be able to register. Did I do something wrong? I run the phpBB 2.0.22 forum, could that be it?

This mod doesn't do much for spam prevention.

This mod doesn't seem to be working correctly.

It has kept kept the website section of the registration from being used, but since implenting this mod, spam registrations have almost doubled. Thankfully there isn't the issue of their porn website being in the memberlist, but the work trying to delete this scum registrations has increased.

Why, since I know this registrations are attempting to insert a URL, is their registration form not being rejected?

Did you test it for yourself, or are you just guessing? Did you try manually injecting data into one of the fields that was removed?

Not sure how I would test it other than to look at the registration page and confirm that there is not a "Web Site" spot on the form, and there is not.

What I can tell you is that 12:01:54 on site (A) http://www.outdoors-411.com sombody registers under the name "Humpbunny" with a few fields filled in, with nonsense, including the e-mail acfgh@home.ru.

Then at 12:01:59 on a different web site (without this mod) the same user name registers with ALL the same info but includes a URL.

It has to be a bot, and it certainly doesn't seem site "A" is rejecting the registration form because it tried to input a URL.

Before I installed this mod I was getting about 30 spam registrations per day on site (A), 95% of which included a spam URL, usually porn or blue pill related.

Over the weekend I received about 50 per day on site (A) same MO, but they didn't have a URL. Which is GREAT they didn't have a URL, but the increase just increases my time deleting these morons.

I have already received 25+ this morning on http://www.outdoors-411.com

How can I manually inject a URL into a field that isn't visible on the registration form?

I won't get into explaining how to insert raw post variables.

But what I will say is that newer bots usually do not submit data into hidden fields, because mods like this just block them.

If you are looking for spam protection, remove this mod and install Anti-Spam ACP 2.0.8.

well everything was working fine i thought.
but the website still shows under a different template.
and i had a different template as default.
so apparently some people were banned by my ignorance.
what file do i need to change in the template folder to make the website field unavailable on registration like subSilver?
