Well I finally need some help. You guys may have noticed that for a few months now YouTube has a different URL pattern. Movies upload prior to the change are not effected. Here are two irrelevant examples.

(Old Style that matches $patterns[] = "#\[youtube\]http://(?:www\.)?youtube.com/watch\?v=([0-9A-Za-z-_]{11})[^[]*\[/youtube\]#is";)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP9qgdRGimY

(New style that fails to embed)
http://www.youtube.com/v/8ta4W3WEWOc&rel=1

If anyone that knows php could help me figure out how we could match the pattern to allow both old and new movies to embed, I would be very thankful.

Well I guess I was a bit confused with the above. There really isn't any new code, but that is the play code of the video. I can simply that the 11 characters before the &rel=1 and add them to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= and then it works just fine. Would be nice to have it allow that code too however. Sometimes the youtube movie is extracted from a view source of a page.

Hi all,

I'm having trouble with the youtube code. I tried asking for support in the multi BB code thread but was told this is the best place to ask.

Thanks.
I wrote:Hi guys,

I'm having a problem with this mod the links won't work for me at all.
I'm at a wits end with it, everything seems in order i've installed correctly from what I see.

Normally I can sort these things out easily but this time i'm stumped. So time to open it to the floor I guess.
Anyone care to have a crack at it? I've uploaded the edited files to my site and kept the directory structure intact. (38kb).

http://www.wowsublime.co.uk/other/youtube_code.zip

It's probably something simple like a comma out of place somewhere.

Any help appreciated thanks.

What the deal if I'm missing some of the code in some of these files? I'm running phpBB 2.0.20 if that matters.

For Example... in the bbcode.php file. I'm missing

Code: Select all

$EMBB_widths = array(''

Do you already have the BBCode MOD installed? It looks that you don´t, that´s why you don´t have that code there.

From the YouTube MOD file:
## Author Notes:
## You must have Multiple BBCode MOD installed for this to work.
edit: I removed the link to the bbcode MOD as it sent me to an unauthorized page, you´ll have to search the MOD in the database.

Can anyone tell me if this MOD actually works? I tried to check myself by following the link to that forum that's supposed to show it in action, but my browser only showed the code in brackets (not the video itself).

I am also having big trouble with one line in the instructions. It's the one that says find this:
$EMBB_widths = array(''
inside the
includes/bbcode.php
file.
The problem I'm having is that I can find no such line. Does anyone have an explanation for why it would ask me to find a line of code that isn't there? I read that I needed to have the MulitBBC MOD installed. I took care of that. But I don't find that line of code in that file, or any other file that it says to edit. I thought maybe the author of the instructions just made a mistake when asking me to open the file...so I tried finding it in all of them and it's just not there.
Help!

-Yes,

The multi bbcode mod is needed. Install this first, even if you have to edit the code by hand. If you upgrade to phpbb3, the Google Video and Youtube is easy to set up in the Admin Panel.

None of your MODs & themes will work after you upgrade to 3.0. It'll basically replace all your file edits, so there won't be any trace of your MOD after upgrading. For that matter there is no EasyMOD for 3.0 yet, so you won't be able to use it after upgrading :)

Just upgrade to 3.0. None of the MODs will be retained in your 3.0 installation - it'll be a new set of files used :) The MOD will be lost, though, so if you really do need it check first to see if 3.0 has those functionalities built in or if there exists MODs that can fulfill its functions :)
