Bug in groupcp.php - send invite:
http://www.forum.com/invite.php&g=13940&mode=group

Must be:
http://www.forum.com/invite.php?g=13940&mode=group

Thanks for spotting this. The error is in the edit for groupcp.php:

Code: Select all

				'INVITE_LINK' => append_sid("invite.$phpEx&".POST_GROUPS_URL."=$group_id&mode=group",true),
should be

Code: Select all

				'INVITE_LINK' => append_sid("invite.$phpEx?".POST_GROUPS_URL."=$group_id&mode=group",true),
I'll fix the installation instructions in the next release.

Bug in overall_header.tpl when I using registration only with intives - don't show it!

New features:
-configurable on/off PM when sending invitation
-configurable on/off PM when invitation accepted

Yes, the optional PM features seem to be a good idea.

As to the bug in the template: could you be a little more specific?

And one new features: Pagination in admin ivites list :)

With <!-- BEGIN and END switch_show_invites --> not works...

Code: Select all

						<!-- BEGIN switch_show_invites -->
						&nbsp;<a href="{U_INVITE}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/mini_icon_invite.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_INVITE_FRIEND}" hspace="3" />{L_INVITE_FRIEND}({INVITES_LEFT})</a></span>&nbsp;
						<!-- END switch_show_invites -->
...I am using only:

Code: Select all

&nbsp;<a href="{U_INVITE}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/mini_icon_invite.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_INVITE_FRIEND}" hspace="3" />{L_INVITE_FRIEND}({INVITES_LEFT})</a></span>&nbsp;
When I set mode of registration to 2nd (free reg+invites), that in my menu is ex.: menu1 menu2 menu3 () - only parentheses without any text!

Actually that's a (really small) bug. Many thanks for mentioning it :D.
With <!-- BEGIN and END switch_show_invites --> not works...

Code: Select all

						<!-- BEGIN switch_show_invites -->
						&nbsp;<a href="{U_INVITE}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/mini_icon_invite.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_INVITE_FRIEND}" hspace="3" />{L_INVITE_FRIEND}({INVITES_LEFT})</a></span>&nbsp;
						<!-- END switch_show_invites -->
...I am using only:

Code: Select all

&nbsp;<a href="{U_INVITE}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/mini_icon_invite.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_INVITE_FRIEND}" hspace="3" />{L_INVITE_FRIEND}({INVITES_LEFT})</a></span>&nbsp;
When I set mode of registration to 2nd (free reg+invites), that in my menu is ex.: menu1 menu2 menu3 () - only parentheses without any text!

I can't reproduce that one so far. It seems to work like intended on my test board.
When the condition for the switch doesn't trigger, then the mod won't fill the template variables either.

Quick question - Is an option to disable/enable the mod available? I'm guessing this is what is meant by "can be set to "optional" in the readme?

Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind. Just installed it and yes, you can enable, disable, or make it even optional :)

I'd just like to say that the concept of this mod is brilliant! :D

To those who have yet to install it - don't let the estimated install time of 45 mins scare you, it only took me about 25 min (20 for code adjustments using BBEdit, and 5 for file uploads and database modification).

If I have time tomorrow, I'll see if I can package up all the files that must be modified as I did my installation of this mod on a fresh, unmodded phpBB 2.0.20 installation. This will hopefully simplify the installation for others.

EDIT: Link to premodded files (Installation should take you less than 2 minutes)

The installation seemed flawless, but i've got a problem with sending the invites. In the admin cp i can send invites, but as a regular user this fails (the emails never arrive, but everything seems ok).
What could be a reason for this? (i've got no mods installed apart from this one) :?
i'm using 1.0.3d_ger, if this can be of any help...

Does sending other emails via the board work? It sounds a little like a filtering mailserver or a spamfilter at work.

nope, i'm able to send a "normal" email to other users via the board :/

//edit: there's something else which is strange: the invitation i send via the acp works, but it needs ~6 min to arrive while emails i send to myself via the board are there immediately...
is this normal?
btw, i'm using 2.0.20...

That's strange. The mod uses the exact same mail function as the normal board.

The invite mails have a tendency to get caught by spam protection mechanisms, as they use the CC field. Try using another mail server and see if that works.

hmm, i tried this but somehow it didn't work. i entered this into "general configuration":
smtp-server: mail.gmx.net
smtp-user: myname@gmx.de
stmp-pw: *************************

and when i tried to send a mail, i got this error

Code: Select all

Could not connect to smtp host : :

DEBUG MODE

Line : 112
File : smtp.php
(btw: no errno and no errstr? whatever...)

however, this was VERY helpful:
Kellanved wrote: The invite mails have a tendency to get caught by spam protection mechanisms, as they use the CC field.

i commented this out in functions_invite.php:

Code: Select all

	if ($admin == 0)

	{

		$emailer->cc($userdata['user_email']); //a copy for each mail to the sender's addy

	}
AND NOW IT WORKS!!! yay! :D
now the cc field isn't used anymore, but i guess this is ok for me as long as it works ^^

hmm, i don't like free webhosters, you've got always problems with them ^^

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GREAT MOD AND YOUR GREAT SUPPORT! :D :D :D
