Excuse me, but how do you install this mod?
There are 3 files includes in the .zip file.
2 xml files and a .MOD extension file.
No instructions.

Thanks.

Before I ask my question I want to make it clear that I have read the last four pages of this thread.

Does this MOD work with 2.0.22 yet?

Yes, I've been using it with 2.0.22. No problems.

Link on the front page is broken, is this MOD still available as a package? I've edited the files manually but it'd be nice to be able to change them via the admin page.

The original location of the MOD is http://www.phpbb.com/files/mods/Confusa ... _v100a.zip even when the MOD Database is down.

In the instructions for this mod, it says to open includes/usercp_register.php

then it says for me to find "U_AGREE_UNDER13" => and in the line find: &agreed=true"

then replace with: &". $board_config['agreed_var'] ."=".$board_config['agreed_val']

It also asks me to find "U_AGREE_UNDER13" => and in the line find: &agreed=true&coppa=true"

and replace with: &". $board_config['agreed_var'] ."=". $board_config['agreed_val'] ."&".$board_config['coppa_var']."=true"

However, I previously had a Referral Plus mod installed on my forum. So instead, those lines read as follows (with the relevant parts highlighted in bold and blue:
// Referral Plus
// modify add: &refer_id=$refer_id

"U_AGREE_OVER13" => append_sid("profile.$phpEx?mode=register&agreed=true&refer_id=$refer_id"),
"U_AGREE_UNDER13" => append_sid("profile.$phpEx?mode=register&agreed=true&coppa=true&refer_id=$refer_id"))
//
// Referral Plus
//
Seeing as the lines are slightly different here in my includes/usercp_register.php file, how should I modify the above lines to include the replacement lines that are specified in the instructions?

PS: I don't want to uninstall this Referral Plus mod as the board is likely to crash as there are a number of different things linked to it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would not bother putting this MOD in place, as announced on the first message - the bots have worked around it for over a year. The referrer ID MOD you've already installed is just as much a deterrent to them as this MOD, because it makes your board "different" from standard. Any bot that can "beat" the referrer will also beat ConfusaBOT.

Spend your effort on something more worthwhile... :wink:

The instructions are in the file that ends in ".MOD". If you have certain software installed, Windows might "help" you by trying to open the file as a music file, but it can be opened with NOTEPAD.

In any case, it is not worth installing this MOD anymore; the spam bots can get around it. They got smarter. It worked for a year, but it's been three since this was done.
