A very nice complement to the similar AIM MOD! However, I think we should now use the term "WLM" for Windows Live Messenger, since Microsoft recently decided to re-brand its online services :) .

We should use WLM, but nobody would know what it stood for.... at least I wouldn't know.

BTW, ATM this mod is only compatible with IE. It is possible for it to work with FF too because it doesn't use ActiveX but it uses the msnim protocol. It would be great if somebody could make a script that would make it work.

my first time installing mods and i think i messed it up. my forums are ok, but theres no icon for msn it just says "talk to whoever on msn" and when u click it it says firefox cannot find this address.

i dont know where i messed up, i thought i copied everything to the letter. only thing that was vague was the sql part. i just opened up mysql manager, and clicked on phpbb_config. then i assigned the variables. but i dont know if it was done right? plez some help, i just dont want to redo the whole thing, if it could be troubleshot. thanks in advance for ur help!!!

from the descrition of your problems, it sounds like you didn't execute the query correctly or you didn't copy the images. I created an SQL parser for you. http://phpbb-login.strangled.net/pastebin/14

These are the installation steps:

Code: Select all

 * - Installation:
 * 1) Make backups of your database before proceeding!
 * 2) Create a subdirectory named "install" (without quotes) in your phpBB installation.
 * 3) Save this file as "db_update.php" and upload to your newly created install directory.
 * 4) Now, open the script using your browser of choice as in the following example:
 *      http://www.example.com/forums/install/db_update.php
 *      ...and follow instructions.
 * 5) Once, your DB has been updated, remove the install directory and this file.
