I've submitted the update to the mod team, hopefully it'll be validated and posted soon.

The only problem I find with this mod is that sometimes users forget their password or enter it incorrectly a few times and find themselves with inactive accounts when this happens they can easily be deleted with this mod and also all their posts alone with it.

Version 1.1 (currently in review by mod team) corrects for that possibility. It should be up here soon I hope.

PM me the code if it's allowed.

Another small suggestion?

Could this mod be set to automate by itself?

harknell wrote: Automation....hmmmm, I'm not sure how to directly go about automating a process like this. Nothing in phpbb actually "runs" as such to hook into.

Are any functions set to do something on a periodic basis without user input?

How about hooking it to any user login? Whenever a user logs into the forum (manually or automatically with cookies), have it run the script to expire unactivated accounts? (Or, if that would be running the script a little too much, maybe a way to make it run when the first person of each day logs in or something like that...)

I would suggest using something like pruning... where it sets a limit as to how often it will run. And tie it to a moderator / admin logging in, rather than a normal user.

Best option, ultimately, is to set up a cron job that will run during times when the board activity is at its lowest level.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've also discovered some interesting techniques, like the one here: www.bitfolge.de/pseudocron used in this mod: http://www.phpbb.com/styles/forum/viewt ... 3a6a65e9e3. This looks like a possible solution, but probably cut down a bit to be more simplified. The one thing that automation potentially adds is lag to page loads, so it's tricky. I don't want to add a huge amount of overhead, especially with a board that is heavily visited. Of course any automation that I added would be optional and set by the admin to true/false in the control panel, so it could be disabled if found to be a burden on the server. I will probably also see about making the cron selectable such that it can be flagged to only initiate on a mod/admin visit to the site, or to a regular user visit.

So I'll look at both the tie-in to user log in, and the img src version for just a regular page view.

I love this mod! I used to do all the pruning by hand before. This mod is saving me a lot of much time :)

Thank you so much Harknell.[/url]

Thank you Akehla, I found myself in the same situation on my forum so that's why I made the mod.

I'm still looking into how I'm going to design the automated portion of the mod. I hope to have something in Beta testing by next week.

just a suggestions for future consideration:

I'd also like to delete 2 other groups of people:

Those that activated X days ago but never logged on again.

Those that activated but havent logged on in X days.

I've done that manually with some sql queries, but it would be nice if there were an admin interface to do it.

thanks for the mod
