I'm happy to see how Textual Confirmation helps everyone!
I did notice my error_body.tpl file is empty. I'm guessing it shouldn't be.

You are right. Restore the file from the phpBB distribution archive.

Just a thought. In order to ensure that a valid human user doesn't get denied because they lack information, you could include the answer as a statement within your question, and reference it (in a roundabout way). If at all possible, each statement should contain the possibility of at least two question/answers.

For instance:

Q: "Mary had a little lamb, it's fleece was white as snow." What is the color of Mary's pet?
A: white
Q: "Mary had a little lamb, it's fleece was white as snow." What is Mary's pet?
A: lamb

or

Q: Jonathan said "I believe I would like tea with dinner." What is Jonathan drinking?
A: tea
Q: Jonathan said "I believe I would like tea with dinner." What meal is Jonathan eating?
A: dinner
Q: Jonathan said "I believe I would like tea with dinner." Who is eating a meal??
A: Jonathan

These sorts of questions assume no prior knowlege on the part of the reader, but they do assume enough intelligence to infer an answer.

Re: [14/12/06] Textual Confirmation

Post by rmweb »

Hi,

I've carried out the installation and when clicking on Textual Confirmation in the ACP I receive the following error message on the main page frame:
Subject: Charset: iso-8859-1 User '' has failed to answer the Textual Confirmation question correctly. It might be a spambot, therefore the registration is rejected. -- User: E-mail domain: Website: Signature: -- Data provided by the server: -- You are using the COMMUNITY EDITION of Textual Confirmation. This message is also SENT TO THE COMMUNITY SPAM DATABASE. If you don't like it, buy the business edition license: http://bbantispam.com/tc/?mode=register -- Textual Confirmation, http://bbantispam.com/tc/

I've tested the mod through registration and it works but I'm concerned about any other side effects and the fact I don't want to go through the back door to change questions periodically.

Any advice?

It's always pleasant to know that spammers are stopped. Thanks for confirming it.

loquin, thanks for thoughts. If you are not against, I've copied them to bbAntiSpam forum.

rmweb, it seems that the files "templates/subSilver/admin/textual_confirmation.tpl" and "language/lang_english/email/textual_confirmation.tpl" are confused. Please check that you put the correct files in the correct places.

Medda, you need to change the file "profile_add_body.tpl" of your ca_classic template, similar to what you made for subSilver template.

I've just released Textual Confirmation 1.0.5. Download here. Three translations are added:

* Traditional Chinese Taiwan (Big-5) translation by Robert Lee <robmlee gmail com>
* French translation by tran quoc minh <tranquocminh gmail com>
* Bulgarian translation by diabolic.bg

There are no any other changes.

Actually, the TODO list is big, but I decided to release the new language files immediately, before implementing new features.

olpa, I dunno what's wrong but I can't get this mod to work...
I've installed it properly I think,
I've just changed the question, and the answers to one answer.
It shows porperly when I try to register,
but either I skip the asnwer or answer wrong, it still registers the account :(
Any clues?

When I have done all the steps,
I finally do the step with the mysite/phpbb2/db_update.php
and I log in as admin, I got tree lines, but hte first one says this:

CREATE TABLE phpbb_textual_confirmation ( id INTEGER NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, question TEXT NOT NULL, answers TEXT NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (id) )
+++ Error: Table 'phpbb_textual_confirmation' already exists

The other 2 lines I get successful...
is this a problem?
And how do I solve this?

refereing to your last post on the first page, for the (sql) stuff

Hi Medda, the SQL is ok, the table is created, questions are added.
Any clues?

Very likely, you got this problem: http://bbantispam.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=181.

Re: [14/12/06] Textual Confirmation

Post by Medda »

thanks olpa, seeems to work now,,,
however, I had to put it this way:

Code: Select all

$error = true;
			$error_msg = $lang['Fields_empty'];
		}
	}
	else
	{
		$user_lang = $board_config['default_lang'];
	}
	tc_hook_register();
However, in the db_update, there I can change the question and answer right?
Also I wonder if we are allowed to make it so the admin dont get the spam messages?
Just like the messages are sent to your antispam address? Why- well,
I only delete the messages I get from the TextualConfirmation anyways :roll:

Please let me know Medda 8)

EDIT:
I edited theese two lines;
INSERT INTO phpbb_textual_confirmation(question,answers) VALUES ('Are you human?', 'yes\nja\noui');
INSERT INTO phpbb_textual_confirmation(question,answers) VALUES ('Say hello', 'hello\nhi\nhallo');

I deleted the second line, and I made a new question with 1 answer in the first line...
Then I updated the mod by putting hte db_updated.php in my root folder of the forum.
logged in as admin and get the error of first line for the table was allready created,
and succeessful on the second line for hte question and answer.

Then when I try to register, it works properly, like you cannot register if you dont answer the question right...
however, if I skip that part and try to register, the question is there again, but I get the old question:
Are you human?

is there because I have to delete all the tables I've made in the database?
And how do I do that?
I'm a totally noob when it comes to databases etc :(

Aaah, haxed around a bit, :twisted:
logged in to my database and find as expected like 20 tables with questions and ansers.
deleted all except one and made the table-id to 1 ;)

This mod seems to work flawlessy now 8)

Anyways, I still wonder if there is a way to remove the spambot-messages I get to my inbox?
Sure I can make all those message go to trash, but I think it would be better if they could just be removed. :roll:

Best regards Medda 8)
