Re: Attachment Mod installation in 2.0.22

Post by Altstatten »

Downloaded Attachment Mod.
Unzipped it and uploaded it (ftp) to the server in the appropriate folder.
In my ACP, logged in to the Mod Installer and..........the Attachment Mod doesn't show up!

Cleared cache, prayed, chanted, repeated this process several times. Any ideas why the A-Mod won't show up in my ACP? Done several other mods this morning already so this isn't my first rodeo.

What did you upload? The attachment_mod folder or its contents?

Both.

Uploaded the folder that came from unzipping.

Uploaded the folder inside that one...

Neither worked.

Isnt there something you have to do? Like move the install.txt up one level?

to the post above: Have you changed all of the settings like it says in the install.txt?

My question, is there any way to require a login to download the files in an attachment??

In forum permissions, set Download permission to Reg.

Hi,

I'm looking to possibly using this Attachment MOD but I need to verify one thing. What is drawing me to this MOD is the - and I hope I've got this right! - ability to upload/attach mp3/midi (music) files. Is this correct?

I'm wishing to start a "Guess the Music from the 80's" Topic at my website. Basically members are permitted to upload a 5 to 10 second piece of music from the 80's and others have to guess the artist/band/year, etc attached to a Post. While it is straight-forward enough for me to upload music files to my website through ftp - members can't and I'm wanting them to be able to participate by uploading their own.

.... so is this possible with this Attachment MOD?

Many thanks!

Yes. You'll have to allow the streaming extension group and also allow the mp3 and midi extensions in the admin panel.

i have the phpbb 2.0 forum, downloaded the attachment mod245. will it work and is there any possibility that it might render my forum unavailable, or screw up the database?

and if not, what do i have to edit for it to work? and how?

Read the installation instructions (located in docs/install.txt). As long as you don't screw up the installation you'll be fine.

Thanks for the quick response!

Great! And there's me thinking it wasn't possible. Been looking for something like this for a long time. I thought I might have to resort to websites that allow free storage of all types of files but the majority don't allow direct public links to them unless you pay for the this. Not what I wanted to do.

Big MOD. Let's hope I don't screw up the installation. Like other MODS, I always backup all files and mysql database in case of a cock-up. Take it this is one MOD that would require the board taken offline?

Please tell me something like this WILL be implemented into phpBB3?!

Thanks again! :D
