In the past few posts there have been a number of folks that have crossed the line. Let's focus on the attachment MOD. And remember what your mother said, "If you can't say something nice..."

Carry on.

Hi,

I have attachment mod installed for the forum. All is working great except clips. when I upload a clip it works fine, but when I come to download it, it stops at 1.9mb every time.

Now I know you will probably say this is a problem with my server but support have checked everything there end and can't find anything wrong. The file is stored on my web space no problem and I am able to download it in its full format via ftp. But when I come to download it via for forum, for any file....it stops at 1.9mb.

So something somewhere isn't working or is set wrong but I can't find out what. I have set the max size for clips for 10mb.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Create a file phpinfo.php and put this in it:

Code: Select all

<?php phpinfo(); ?>
Open in a browser and look for max_execution_time and see what it's set to. It's not the mod. Some server setting is preventing the complete download of the file.

Just did a fresh install using the pre mod files.

I get an error "Internet Explorer cannot read this webpage format"
when Im in the attachment maangment admin area and I click on Submit or Test.

using the latest version 2.0.22 of phpbb
the premod files are 2.0.19 I think. cant find any other set. Does this matter?

Do I need to install it the slow manual method?
( and edit the files)

30...seconds? Can you download a 10mb file in 30 seconds? I don't think I can outside of a T3 connection. I think that's your culprit.

Thanks David,
Reinstalled the mod

when I click on any of the attachment admin buttons (under Attachment.. Managment) in the control panel, I still get the internet explorer message.

Has anyone else come across this error?

Scott
Error pasted below:

Internet Explorer cannot read this webpage format
HTTP 406
What you can try:
Go back to the previous page.

More information

This error (HTTP 406 Not Acceptable) means that Internet Explorer was able to receive information from the website you visited, but the information was not in a format that Internet Explorer can display.

For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.

I've also tried using Mozilla Firefox and get this message

I've had this increased and it still stops dead on 1.9mb on any file. Any other ideas?

So does million/admin/admin_attachments.php exist on your server? And how exactly are you uploading the files? (which FTP program are you using?)

Hahah Dave... You must not have a modern Cable ISP. Mine promises speeds up to 10mb/s, with my current connection clocking at 5mb/s. This means that I can upload a 10MB file in about 20 seconds.

Wait... that is download speed, not upload isnt it? :P My upload is probably closer to 1mb/s, meaning a 10MB file would take about 2-minutes....

As for the user's problem,
Have you checked the maxupload and maxpost settings in the php.ini file?
