Ok;)

First of all, I did try the suggestion above by "miraclewhipkey" to set order for different types. I tried to incorporate that into your mod, but something in his mod suggestion seems to be weird since I got very strange problems. I don't know if that depended on the fact that I also have the split topic type mod installed, byt anyway, for me it didn't do anything but messing up my testboard, so I uninstalled it.

Anyway, here is the changes required to make your mod complient with the Global Announcement Mod which I'm sure a lot of dudes are using it out there.

Notice that I have used your originla installation file as my basis for the changes and then I put there everything that is supposed to be different or should be added to your installation file. The rest of the installation file which is not mentioned here, remains the same as it was before.

Code: Select all

The SQL command line:

For those that have the Split Topics Type Mod installed the only changes you need to make are as follows:

Code: Select all

templates/subSilver/viewforum_body.tpl

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	  <td class="row1" width="100%"><span class="topictitle">{topicrow.NEWEST_POST_IMG}{topicrow.TOPIC_TYPE}<a href="{topicrow.U_VIEW_TOPIC}" class="topictitle">{topicrow.TOPIC_TITLE}</a></span><span class="gensmall"><br />
#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
	  <td class="row1" width="100%"><span class="topictitle">{topicrow.NEWEST_POST_IMG}<b>{topicrow.TOPIC_TYPE}</b><a href="{topicrow.U_VIEW_TOPIC}" class="topictitle">{topicrow.TOPIC_TITLE}</a></span><span class="gensmall"><br />
Where you see {topicrow. changed to {topic_list_box.

You will need to make those changes in topics_list_box.tpl in your templates/subSilver/ .... folder

I also have the Topics Type mod installed. But when I see it from a normal user, it wants to show the "_own.gif" file instead of the specials.

I am in the process of debugging this and will get back to you.

TO GPHELMSLY

This is an awesome mod. I haven't started in on making additionial topic types like "special" as I just finished installing this a little bit ago.

I'm learning to debug and fix errors as I come across them and also I have less than 2 months of php coding experience. But I'm a problem solver by nature and I am sure that I will fix whatever bugs I find, IF there are any ;)

I've updated a few things on the first post:
• The URL to the version 1.1.3-dev download link was updated so that you can get the latest version. Just click the "View/Download" link for the top-most revision.
• The addition and deletion of topic types will be included in version 1.2.0, regardless if there is a 1.1.4 released after 1.1.3 or not. But don't think that that means it will be here quicker... I've just done some calculating and planning. ;)

Thanks for your continued interest in this MOD!

hi there

Hi @alll,

I'm new to this board, so I hope it's ok that I post my question here ...
(if not, please tell me where... ;) )

I'm running version 2.0.6 of phpbb ... Everything works fine and so I wanted to install your mod with easy mod. I Processed the sql commands manually and then went on. The problem is I'm not running english as a language, but german and i don't have the default template installed.

I assume i only have to change the "subsilver" to my template name (is that right?) but what do i do with the language stuff, cause the thing is that after i installed everything following message came up:

Failed obtaining forum access control lists

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1054 Unknown column 'a.auth_special' in 'field list'

SELECT a.forum_id, a.auth_view, a.auth_read, a.auth_post, a.auth_reply, a.auth_edit, a.auth_delete,a.auth_special, a.auth_sticky, a.auth_announce, a.auth_vote, a.auth_pollcreate, a.auth_mod FROM board_auth_access a, board_user_group ug WHERE ug.user_id = 2 AND ug.user_pending = 0 AND a.group_id = ug.group_id AND a.forum_id = 7

Line : 164
File : /phpBB2/includes/auth.php

Actually i backed everything up so that wasn't that much of a problem but I'm just wondering what to do, to get things up and running ;)

Greetings, pow ;)

I'm not quite sure what is wrong here, but did you make sure you followed ALL of the directions listed in the MOD? ;)

well, actually i installed it with "EasyMod"... and only performed the sql manually ... I might go back and try it all manuallyl ... what about the language stuff.... can it be ignored, or do I just translate the phrases and go on as the install.txt says it ?

thx & greetings

Yeah, if you installed with EasyMOD, you probably didn't read the directions at all. Here they are:
## Installation Directions:
## 1. Copy the included files to their correct locations.
## 2. Follow the steps below.
## 3. At your forums, go to Administration Panel -> Forum Admin -> Permissions
## and set the permissions for the new types of posts you installed, otherwise
## all users will be able to post them.
## 4. At your forums, go to Administration Panel -> Forum Admin -> Post Types
## and let the page load completely. If you want to change any of the Post Type
## names, you can do that here also. Whenever you install new languages, you
## must repeat step 4.

The part in bold is what you need to look at. Make sure you do this step first, as I don't know what kind of problems may occur if you don't. Try doing that first, then let me know what happens. :)

question

Post by klent337 » Fri Feb 06, 2004 7:11 pm

What's been done to 1.1.3 dev? Features I mean?

Also somehow, someway I managed to get my bugs fixed. Show "Special: [Topic Type]" to show up properly. I'm pretty sure it had to do with moving stuff around each other because both of these mods were installed next to each other.

Anyways ....

GPHemsLey->
How do I add more types? Like Upgrade, Update, Assignment, etc.?
I want to move some of my topic types over to "Specials" type.

Let me know. This mod ROCKS !! hehe 8)

Check out the MOD History section of it in CVS. And of the To-Do list in the first post. ;)

Sorry, what exactly was your problem? And how did you fix it? :?

As of now, the only way is to edit the MOD file and reinstall. This is a terrible way and an Admin Panel way will be added in version 1.2.0 (again, see the to-do list).

Someone posted instructions for adding this to Global Announcements previously in this thread, but I don't know about the other two files. What can't you find?

That I don't know. I would venture to guess Neils' version, though. :?

Alright, but I'm not sure if it will work entirely. Good luck. :P
