[BETA] Change Style 0.9.8 (updated)

Post by ktauber » Tue May 07, 2002 11:51 pm

Description
Displays a "Board Style" box in the top right corner of each page that allows all users (registered and guests) to change the board style (Normally a user must be registered to change the board style).

It instroduces a new URL parameter: s=<style> where <style> can be a style ID or a style name. Example: www.yoursite.com/phpBB2/index.php?s=subGreen

Details: http://www.ktauber.com/phpBB2mods/change_style/
Demo: http://www.ktauber.com/forums.html
Download: http://www.ktauber.com/downloads/phpbb2mods.html
Support: http://www.ktauber.com/forums.html

There is a security issue in version 0.9.7 (and older) of the Change Style MOD that allowes attackers to get password hash values of users. This has been fixed in version 0.9.8. To fix existing installations do the following: Open: includes/functions.php
Find:

Code: Select all

if ( intval($style) == 0 )
Replace with:

Code: Select all

if ( !is_numeric($style) )

Thanks for this mod.. I've been looking for one for a while.. :D Thanks..Thanks..thanks..hehe
Anyway just a suggestion. Would be cool if the mod actually has a number count. That tell u how many users uses each style..

For example

Style 1.. 10 users
Style 2.. 20 users

and so forth.. :)
Have you seen a phpBB like this?

Hi,

I have the mod installed but I would like a button to enter the fora with style abc on a non-phpBB page. But when I click the link on the page outside the forum, it just redirects back to the page. Any ideas of how I could do this?? Thanks.

Simply use something like this: phpBB2/index.php?s=subGreen :wink:

Do not use changestyle.php because it only redirects to the current URL and adds the s= parameter.

ok, a couple more questions:

1. what's the point of changestyle.php then?? couldn't the link in overall_header just go to index.php and all would work ok??

2. does clicking on a different style register the change with your profile?? ie will changing the style in your profile stil work??

thanks

It will work. But changing the style will always switch to the forum index. With changestyle.php, you will stay on the current page (e.g. viewforum.php).

Not yet. It's planned for the next version :wink:

You are right. Changing the style in the profile has no effect because the cookie set by the MOD has priority.

What I plan is:
  • If the user is logged in, the MOD will update the profile. No cookie will be set. A existing cookie will be ignored.
  • If the user is not logged in, then a cookie will be set (current behaviour).

How do you make the choices into a jumpbox setting instead of a regular table box?
