[Discussion] Updated MOD-Template

Post by AbelaJohnB »

Hello everyone.

You've spoken, I've listened.
(Ah! to those of you that think I'm closed minded <grin>)

At the last update of our "MOD Template" there were some concerns that we had not anticipated nor foresaw.

In private discussion with a great number of you MOD-Authors out there, I decided to go back and take another look at our (the phpBB Group) legal status and how MOD's are handled, concerning the GPL.

So, what we've come up with (the phpBB Group) is that -any/all- MOD's submitted to the MOD-Database (http://www.phpbb.com/mods/downloads) will automatically become GPL'ed.

Any additional Copyright you, as a MOD-Author, would like to place on the MOD, will need to be added within the "Author Notes" section.

Again, I am posting this to try to finalize this entire issue. And, because we do care about our community opinion, I am allowing the community to make any final comments before we enforce this new (below) MOD-Template. So, here is your chance, as MOD-Authors, to make any final statements/thoughts/opinions.

What is -not- going to change, or be removed, is our 'Security Disclaimer'. We simply will not compromise on this, so there is no need to discuss this one folks ;)

Ok, I will leave this topic open until the end of the week, at which time any viable suggestions will be taken back to the Group, and reviewed. At which time we will make the Official Change to the above (or revamped) MOD-Template.
