[MODDB] Event Registration (ex RegMod)

Post by NetizenKane » Tue May 17, 2005 12:51 pm

Hi all,

due to lots of suggestions from the phpBB community we decided to recode the Event Registration which was earlier called RegMod (actual released version is: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=257087). This version is no longer compatible to the 1.0.x version, so we cannot recommend to mix up the codes of both versions. The beta version is easymod compatible on non-modded boards. We recommend to use easymod for implementation of the Event Registration.

#################################

Abstract:
The Event registration adds a new function to postings which provides up to three clickable options at the top of a thread. By clicking an option you register for it with your username and the registration date. Registrations can be customized, limited by users and can have an expiry date. This can be used as a registration for an event, a poll with visible usernames etc.

Functions:
- Option labels can be set by thread opener
- Nicknames sorted by option and by time pf registration
- Confirmation for all options by clicking the option again
- Setting authentification for registration topics per ACP (Forums & Groups)
- Calculation of sums per option
- View own choice of option on forum view and search results
- View summary of chosen options on forum view
- Resetting the registration
- Restricting the amount of registrations per option
- Open slots per option viewable
- Setting expiration date of registration
- Works in combination with stickys, announcements and polls
- Possibility to unregister from an event
- nicknames in registration are clickable; link is pointing to the user's profile
- registration topics are viewable in the search results (thanks to Marmotte)
- if you leave the blue and/or the red option empty, the options aren't viewable
- fixed bug with previewing a posting. Entered data are now persistent
- fixed bug with labelling of the green option button. "Confirmation" will now only be shown to correct registered users
- fixed a bug in the install script - thanks to Rustyrek for help
- fixed bug with deleting replies
- fixed bug with presenting the search results
- fixed bug with displaying columns in registration box
- fixed bug with displaying registrations in viewforum.php
- fixed bug with maximum slots and confirmation
- fixed bug with login redirection
- fixed install script indenting and formal issues
- fixed AUTH constant to prevent clashing with other mods
- including code to viewtopic.php instead of a direct implementation
- install script updated with partial finds

Planned Features:
- list of user's registrated events
- splitting the AUTH construct similar to the poll functionality

the phpbb_registration table will remain untouched, so your registration data are persistent. after the update the registration threads will vanish until you change the value in a new column in the phpbb_topics table (topic_reg).

due to the change from a topic type handling to a poll-like beahviour there are deeper changes in the code of the php files. we'll wait with the update files until the release of the new version.

Damn, that looks really cool! Is it possible yet that only Admins/Moderators can see it? And, that you can make more than 3 poll options?
Sorry, for my bad English

if you think of the possibility of setting the permissions for admins and mods so that only these groups can start regmod-topics: yes, that works definitely.
hiding of such topics is not implemented. you can't hide stickys and announcements also, for example.
And, that you can make more than 3 poll options?

We discussed this and decided to wait for this until the release of this version and the start of the next beta phase.

ps.: the errors in the demoforum (registration, profiles etc.) are fixed.

Great to see this mod moving forward NetizenKane

I was really impressed with the first Version although the in-ability to post as sticky or announcements was a huge draw back. Glad to see it made the list of must do additions

Can't wait to try out your new version :)

quick question will it work with the mod "Global Announcements" as well. or only with the standard ones.

Thanks again for taking this mod further :D
Regards
Brett

i didn't test it but due to the fact that the new version is completely independent to topic types i think it should work. you can try either the betaversion (look in first topic for download link) or look if the global announcement mod works with the poll function. if it does the regmod will do, too.
