jh0nny wrote: The language files are on another server or don't they?
So how can I change them into another language (dutch so nl?) because it cannot load that, is there a possibility to link it to another page on my server with words on it?

Everything is on your server. Try changing en to nl in spell_checker.php

Code: Select all

$pspell_config = pspell_config_create("en");
If it doesn't work ask nicely your webhost to install dutch dictionary:
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/aspell/dict/nl/

I tried installing this.
It works however it doesnt seem to hide the extra text box and I am not sure why... Any reason why it would do this?

i was playing around and removed this and that second box was gone

Code: Select all

<!-- BEGIN switch_spelling -->
         <span class="action" id="action"><a class="check_spelling" onClick="setObjToCheck('text'); spellCheck();">Check Spelling</a></span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<span class="status" id="status"></span>
         <div class="edit_box" id="results"></div><br>
<!-- END switch_spelling -->
THIS IS THE PART THAT I REMOVED FROM UPPER CODE

Code: Select all

<div class="edit_box" id="results"></div>

That worked for me aswell but if you see there is a small box to the right off the edit box that is in your screenshot I have that aswell and want to remove it. When you check spelling the box jumps to the bottom left of the message box.

adapted to v2.2 of spell checker

If you had previous version installed just upload v.2.2 to /spell/ directory and remove these lines from posting_body.tpl:

Code: Select all

<div class="edit_box" id="results"></div>
and

Code: Select all

<!-- BEGIN switch_spelling -->
		<div class="suggestion_box" id="suggestions"></div>
<!-- END switch_spelling -->

OK, I have just added this WONDERFUL spell checker to my board. But since then, everytime I goto the ADMIN area and click on a link, instead of opening the link in the frame, it opens the page in the browser. Anyideas? Running phpBB 2.0.15 and the newest version of the spellchecker.

This mod doesn't modify or affect behavior of admin code. Try restarting the browser - it happens to me sometimes in phpmyadmin (i don't know what is the reason for it).

I had no problems installing it. Worked perfect the first time. That last edit got me a bit nervous because I didn't back up the file first- but it worked out Ok for me. Really like this one a lot- you should get it approved.

Just an FYI

I am installing on w2k3, sql2k, php4.4.0, phpbb 2.0.17 .

I couldn't get aspell to work with php. I kept getting the 'unable to open dictionary "en"' error (something like that). aspell (win32) worked fine by itself. This was during preliminary test outside of phpbb.

I found a few forums that said if you get this error use:

$pspell_config = pspell_config_create("en");
$pspell_link = pspell_new_config($pspell_config);

instead of:

$pspell_link = pspell_new("en");

That didn't work either. I found using all three would produce correct results without reporting any error. Don't know why though.

I went ahead and installed the spell checker. I am getting good results either way. Still don't know why but, you know, just in case someone else gets stuck on the prelim testing like I did (for three days).

Hi,

It doesnt work with ISO-8859-2 sites :cry: Problem is with spell_checker_compressed.js file, maybe someone can help with that?

If i change

Code: Select all

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-2" />
to:

Code: Select all

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
it works fine... But I can't change this permanently.

This mod is working great for my sites. I just noticed you can only spell check on topic posts. On PM posts there is no link. That would be handy.

Check spelling option for Multiple textboxes in one page

Post by pmkantha »

I wanted to use, AJAX spell checker, but wish to have two or more textboxes on each page. I wanted to provide spell check to each of the boxes seperately. I tried doing this, by having one form with multiple textboxes and also with different forms for each textbox. The problem I am facing is, when ever i try to check spelling on any of the textboxes, the control always passes to the first textbox.. Is there there anyone who has implemented the spell check option for multiple textboxes in one page.
