Scratch that. session_topic = '0' looks fine. In bump.php

FIND

Code: Select all

$userdata = session_pagestart($user_ip, $forum_id);
REPLACE WITH

Code: Select all

$userdata = session_pagestart($user_ip, PAGE_INDEX);
I know what the problem is, and I will update the MOD accordingly.

OKAY,
MOD updated to BETA 0.0.2

New:

Bump posts (herein after called BPs) are hidden.
BPs don't count towards:

:arrow: Pagination
:arrow: Topic post count
:arrow: User posts

BPs:

:arrow: Do not trigger email notification
:arrow: Can be purged from a new admin module with subsequent topic sync
:arrow: Can still be added ad infinitum.

As for the last point, the next update will most certainly include admin settable max post bumps.

Fix:

:arrow: Potential session issue fixed.

**ZIP UPDATED**

Please let me know your thoughts.

Sincerely,
Joe Belmaati

'Fraid not, unless someone else feels like doing it. I have not dug into the CH architecture.

Sorry,

So this means the *bump* message is gone now and yet the post will still be bumped to the top and see as "new"?
That sounds great!

...well, sort of. The post is actually there, but no one sees any trace of it other than

1. The topic jumps to the top of the forum
2. The new post flag is activated
3. The last post in topic time is updated
4. The last post in topic is labelled "[BUMP]" in viewforum last post

Screen shot:

Image

The marked topic has no replies, yet it has been bumped several times. Therefore it is labelled "[BUMP]"

Excellent. It just occured to me that we need a bump posts log. Now that bump posts are hidden it is hard to track if anyone is abusing the system. This is an easy job and will come with the next update (it won't require any file MOD'ing either - just upload and overwrite the to new admin files).

Dough! I included some old files in the distribution of 0.0.2 - please download the distribution once again...

Apologies.

OK, I updated everything to the latest modifications and it works fine. The bumped topic contains no new text, the unread flag is on and the topic is bumped to the top, and I am marked as the last poster, but it does not show [BUMP] in the viewforum though behind my name.

That's an error in the install file.

In viewforum.php this is the correct edit

Code: Select all

#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
# Note: this is a partial line match
#
		$last_post_url =
#
#-----[ BEFORE, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
		$last_post_author.= ( $topic_rowset[$i]['post_bump'] ) ? ' [' . strtoupper($lang['Bump']) . ']' : '';

OK, that's fine now.

Only problem is that I seem to have a clash with probably the "keep unread 2" MOD. My post never gets read now, lol!

I also noticed that when purging the bumps from the ACP, something went wrong. Not quite sure what, but to me it looked like an attachment which was in another post got moved to a different post and the original post was deleted alltogether.

Edit: oh, and it still appears to add new counts to my posts?

Not sure about the clash with the other MOD.

Purging does the following: Deletes all posts with a post bump flag (only applicable to posts that have been auto bumped).

Sets all topics to topic_bumps = 0

Resyncs all topics. I don't see how an attachment could have been moved...

As for increasing reply count make sure you made this edit....

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
if ($resync)
#
#-----[ BEFORE, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
if ($forum_topic_data['topic_bumps'] != 0)
{
   $resync = FALSE;
}
