I fear so. Basically the work to be done should *just* be taking the code CH uses to add users to a group and pasting it into the use_invite function.
But right now getting the version for vanilla phpBB ready has a higher priority, especially as branching off another version would mean having to fix all bugs twice.

I'll have to wait then! Someday, I can dream at least :)

i have RC2 and i have the Invitation Only installed before i found this. do i have to uninstall that to install this or just replace the codes, since most of them are using FINDS, AFTER ADD at the same place?

i have also found a Referal Plus mod which is also in development stage. have anyone tried? how is it different?

Well, both mods hook into phpBB at roughly the same spots. I'd recommend removing the normal invitation mod completely before trying to install this one, despite a few identical instructions in the mod template.

Is there a way to make it so that members can refer others to a different page instead of the forum?

I don't get exactly what you want to do. If it is about changing the link included in the email: it is constructed in the function send_invite_mail in functions_invite.php. You can hardcode other values by editing the email template assginment:

Code: Select all

 $reglink = $server_protocol .  $server_name .  $server_port .  $script_name .'?mode=register';
            $reglink .=  '&email=' . urlencode($email);
            $emailer->assign_vars(array(
                'SITENAME' => $board_config['sitename'],
                'BOARD_EMAIL' => $board_config['board_email'],
                'USER' => $userdata['username'],
                'USER_EMAIL' => $userdata['user_email'],
                'MESSAGE' => $message,

                'CODE' => $invite_code,

                'REGISTER_LINK' => $reglink .  '&invite=' . $invite_code . "\n"

            ));
and (for multiple recipients)

Code: Select all

 $reglink = $server_protocol .  $server_name .  $server_port .  $script_name .'?mode=register';

    $emailer->assign_vars(array(
        'SITENAME' => $board_config['sitename'],
        'BOARD_EMAIL' => $board_config['board_email'],
        'USER' => $userdata['username'],
        'USER_EMAIL' => $userdata['user_email'],
        'MESSAGE' => $message,

        'CODE' => $invite_code,

        'REGISTER_LINK' => $reglink .  '&invite=' . $invite_code . "\n"

        ));

Well, I have a members section & that's where the board is, but in order to see any part of that section, you have to sign up on a different page first.

What I'm basically asking is if it's possible to make it so that when someone who is a member invites someone else, can the person they invite be taken to a page of my choice [ie: the sign up page I made.]

With what you posted, do I have to change where it says '?mode=register'?

I see. For that the changes should be made to the variable $script_name:

Code: Select all

$script_name = preg_replace('/^\/?(.*?)\/?$/', '\1', trim($board_config['script_path']));
$script_name = ($script_name != '') ? $script_name . '/profile.'.$phpEx : 'profile.'.$phpEx;

Okay, so put that in place of "$script_name .'?mode=register';"?

Sorry, I believed it to be all cleared up.

If you want the mailed link to lead to another page than the registration page, then the best way is to change the variables $script_name and/or $reglink.

Hardcoding a link (i.e. 'REGISTER_LINK' => 'yourlink'. "\n" ) would be another way(probably the easiest ) to do it.

However remember that the mod will only have an effect on users using the (modded) phpBB registration page.

Excellent question. I adjusted the .mod file to reflect the changes to phpBB, but I haven't come around to performing tests yet.
