Does this work for 2.0.19 yet? I don't know anywhere near enough php to be able to go into the code and figure out what to change.

Thanks!

I am about to try out the "BetterSMTP". I'm at phpBB 2.0.19, but was considering moving to 2.0.20 prior to applying "BetterSMTP". What would be the smarter move? :?: :)

Trying to install this on my board.

Had a hard time enabling php_openssl.dll, as my installation refused to find my php.ini.

Added the PHPRC evironment var in the system and rebooted, and now it does work (at least, if finds the ini and dll file and says openssl is enabled).

Now when I enable sending mails after eceiving pm's, I simply get a blank file. Went through the Help of this mod, tried the telnet (using gmail account as well, btw). All goes fine.

However, when issueing the command 'openssl s_client -connect smtp.gmail.com:25 -starttls smtp', this is the output I get:
CONNECTED(00000003)
2424:error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol:s23_cln
t.c:567:

Have googled on it, but can't find solution. Using PHP 4.4.2, Apache 1.3.34 on Windows XP pro server. So I'm stuck atm...

to

$stream = fsockopen('tls://' . $host, $port, $errorNumber, $errorString);
(remove the @ for fsockopen). i get the following errors:

Warning: fsockopen(): no SSL support in this build in D:\Internet\Web_Root\DominationGuild\includes\smtp_squirrelmail\class\deliver\Deliver_SMTP.class.php on line 52

Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to smtp.gmail.com:465 in D:\Internet\Web_Root\DominationGuild\includes\smtp_squirrelmail\class\deliver\Deliver_SMTP.class.php on line 52

(line 52 is the line changed)

I downloaded it but I'm not sure exactly how you do it.

First of all install it.

Maybe Google on cygwin first before asking, that helps :-)

yes i have, its not only sending no emails to users, after registration it turns into a blank profile.php page.. no sign of errors but also no signs of proper registering process

http://fireairlines.byethost14.com/phpBB2/

try to register and you'll see for yourself.. you may be able to register.. but the email function does not work as it said it will..

SMTP Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Server Port : tried 465 and 587
SMTP Username : mymail@gmail.com
SMTP Password myusernpass
Authentication Method [ help ] : login
Server uses Secure Authentication (SSL/TLS) [ help ] : yes

Okay, I followed the mod installation down to a t, and that went fine. I then added the details for gmail,

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answ ... c=0&type=f

I used the "login" setting.

Then I tried testing it, by registering. After I clicked the submit button, I got the follow:

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare _() in /home/luuhksoc/www/forum/includes/smtp_squirrelmail/smtp_squirrelmail.php on line 128
I'm checked the code, it was something that was mentioned earlier in this topic, I was wondering if there's a way or fixing this?

2RIP, I had the same problem with the blank page, it happens cos the account can't be verified, so in a way it's a bug.
