If you're posting a link to BETA code, the topic should be in MODs in Development, so moving. You might want to take a read at the stickies in this forum as there is a certain format to follow... specifically if your code is in "beta" stage then the topic title should reflect that.

Good luck with your project. 8)

As per drathbun.

Also, please edit your topic title with a prefix as outlined in MOD Development forum rules, section 3.a. This will allow people to see the development status of your MOD at a glance.

Thank you,

Re: Free multi-forums script

Post by 3Di »

amfr wrote: I have just released the beta of a new phpBB multi-forums script. It is meant to compete with the one on sebflipper.com. Although it does not have as many features, it is free. Some features are: built in ad editor, nice urls (instead of index.php?mforum=blah, it will be blah/index.php, sebflippers does not have this). You can download it here: http://support.amfrservices.com/showthread.php?tid=22. Comments/questions appreciated.
Requirements:
-PHP (duh)
-MySQL (does not work with any other databases yet)
-Apache (does not work with any other webservers)
-Linux (if you are windows, check to see if the php function mime_content_type is enabled, if it is, you can use this script)

I have changed the original post to describe the mod better. Anyone have any suggestions or find any bugs?

Apache
-Linux

What restricts the mod to just use linux?

Im curious because I run Apache on a windows server and have all the features that a linux server would have.

It will only work on Windows if you have mime magic installed

Does this require multiple SQL databases?

I am installing now on a test server to see how well it works :)

If it works without flaws, I may add phpBB hosting to my site! lol

I found something...
MySQL error: Access denied for user 'amfr_amfr'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

I used the install.php and that came up, I must manually edit the multiconfig.php to get it set up. lol

Also, when installing, it says type location to phpbb forum, but when you do that it does NOT work. You must place the destination of the multi phpbb folder!

Other than those small details, everything is running smoothly :) I will start a free hosting service soon thanks to your little MOD!
