Just a few things i'm looking to clear up - can't figure out how to do it :)

Make the stats in viewtopic only available to admins/mods
Separate the users reputation from the link to give rep - like for example, have the users rep (the star images) shown above the joined date, but have the link to give rep below the location, can it be done?

Yeah, good idea. I'll make it.

Count

Post by jdj7544 » Mon Feb 20, 2006 3:27 pm

I have the mod installed and seems to be working ok, except when users give points, sometimes it seems to be doubling the amount given. Anyone else seen this or do I not understand how it works?

yes, it works ok. The system is this: when one user gives another points, they are being doubled, when the giver has more points than the receiver. And if the giver has medals his giving points multiply by the medal number (medal no. 1 - multiply by 5, medal no. 4 - * by 2). If the giver has the exact amount of points as the receiver or less than the receiver the amount of giving points stays the same (multiply by 1). :)

Wow, that is kind of complicated, right? How do i explain all that and the reasoning to my users?

The reason of this is that the more "power" user has more power to give. The more reputated user is the more reputation he gives. That's simple.
To explain this to the end users you can just copy'n'paste the above explanation from me. ;)

Code: Select all

SNIP :D
Thats everything, but what about the main error in posting?

Is there something wrong with this bit?

Code: Select all

sign_rep = + +
As it is shown in the above stuff, that seems not right
and in the error this is what is there..

Code: Select all

user_reputation = user_reputation +
Any help?

I think the main posting error has something to do with this part...

Code: Select all

   // START ADD Reputation Mod v.0.0.1
   $sign_rep = ($mode == 'delete') ? '- ' . (1/$rep_config['posts_to_earn']) : '+ ' . (1/$rep_config['posts_to_earn']);
   if ($userdata['user_id'] == ANONYMOUS)
   {
      $last_time = time();
   } else
   {
      $last_time = $userdata['user_rep_last_time'];
      $dif = time() - $last_time;
      $dif = round($dif/86400,0);
      if ($dif > 1)
      {
         $sign_rep .= ' + ' . $dif / $rep_config['days_to_earn'];
         $last_time = time();
      }
   }
   // END ADD Reputation Mod v.0.0.1

rockboyteek, I took that debug information. Please, remove it - there is a lot of private information. :)

Ok, something strange here. Please, send me by mail to anton[@]granik.com these files:
includes/functions_post.php
includes/constants.php
posting.php

I have to see them to understand this problem.

I have been looking for a vulletin style rep mod for ever, this looks pretty good. Is their a max of rep a user can give, does the power of ur rep increase as time goes on?

Also I cant seem to dl it, it just gives me a page full of random encoded text...

1. Max of giving points = points, the giver have. He can give all his points but not more.
2. Yes, you can set how much days on forum earn 1 point of reputation.

I guess you're using Opera. :) "Save target as..." will save your soul. ;)
