Actually, as you can see, I do, but it's just impossible to release as his, I think the easyer way would be to start again from the regular one and to mod it so it fits mod rewrite urls.

I am currently way to busy to do this, but I will in the near futur.

I need to end some site I am coding before that.

Now which link do I submit to Google?

This: http://gridironfans.com/sitemap.php :?:

Or: http://gridironfans.com/sitemap.xml :?:

Ok, I really like the idea of this mod, and appreciate all the effort you've put into creating it, but the instructions really are very difficult to understand. I'm quite new to phpBB, but I don't consider my stupid, and have installed quite a few mods on my site with no problems.

For example, the link "Go to acp and install mx_ggsitemap module" means nothing to me. I assume ACP is admin control panel, but how can I install modules, do I need automod or something?

Please clean up the instructions a bit, it would really help get a lot of people using this mod.

ok, got it - (phpbb user skip this part) - but still the instructions really could do some work. maybe someone with english as a first language might want to create a good guide on how to set this mod up?

Actually, you have to submit the one that works ;) (have you tryed the second one ?)

The first one works in all cases, the second one, assuming you had an "s" (sitemaps.xml), you activated mod rewrite for sitemap in acp and you set up properly the rewriterules will work too.

So since you did not activate mod rewrite for sitemaps (this is a cosmetic feature so don't bother with it if you don't understand) Go for the regular one, eg the first, and it will work.

Actually, I am pleased to see how fast this mod makes it to list your biggest forums ;)

I knew the install file was a bit hard to understand if you don't read everything, but I never though english was my problem ;)

I may not be english first language, but is it this bad or what ? :)

Antyway you are welcome to correct my english if needed.

Actually, this is a great proof RC1 was needed, I am gathering all that can cause problem to understand and will issue a better install.

I think I was tricked by the fact this is a no code change mod, and thought upload wouldn't be a problem, but I was wrong!
I will issue two realy separated install for phpbb and mx, even though the files are the same.

To all, please make sure your sitemap is working before submiting it to google, it's not that hard, just follow links in the sitemaps, and make sure you can load the SitemapIndex, and at least one forum sitemap.

So far so good, no bugs at all, besided install (which I find a good result, I mean, I wanted to validate some code here too ;) )

The only thing is I still don't have any answer on the oracle and postgresql
no body tested with those db ?

Np ;)

I have seen google was not linking your forum as it should according to your home's PR (4) : http://www.google.fr/search?hl=all&rls= ... cher&meta=

And it's because you did not remove sid from your site, google and every search bots do not like sid, even if they tend to still visit those url.

This mod provide url without sid so it will help, but the best is to get rid of them.

Cyber alien guest session mod is on of the solution to take care of that.

So I should get rid of session id's too? I'll have to search to see how to do that. What are the pros/cons to session ids?

Well, without sid your users will have to accept cookie to allow session tracking.
But phpbb cookie is very small and harmfullless, so it's no big deal, at least IMHO, and the pros are to get indexed. It's quite an on / off thing as far as getting indexed so ...
Many people are using cyber alien guest session mod to get rid of sid, it works nicely and it's easy to install.

All right I updated the install files and provided two folder structures, even though included files are identical (this is not going to kill my bandwitdh though ;) ).

No code change, nothing to do if you already installed, just to make it easyer before the next version.

Ok I solved my problem.

If you do the manual sql update described in mx_ggsitemap_V1.0.0RC1.txt
don't forget to add the sql queries

INSERT INTO phpbb_ggsitemap_config VALUES ('sitemap_sql_limit', '200');
INSERT INTO phpbb_ggsitemap_config VALUES ('sitemap_limitdown', '5');
INSERT INTO phpbb_ggsitemap_config VALUES ('sitemap_limitup', '5');

They where left out in the manual instructions I had to look at db_install.php to get them

Grrrr ;)

I should not provide auto install script, I'd be less lazy on the manual one :D

Then thanks for pointing this, I updated the package.

No other code change, same version.

Grrr! :P
