hello all.

dcz thanks for mod.

dcz I am using on phpbb 2.2.0, mx Google Sitemaps v1.0.0RC2, approve mod 1.0.10, able2know seo.

I upload your files. my forum directory is www.myadressssssss.com/phpBB2/ .

.htaccess code is

Code: Select all

RewriteRule ^sitemaps.xml$ sitemap.php [L]
RewriteRule ^forum-sitemap-([0-9]+).xml$ sitemap.php?fid=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^sitemap-forum.xml$ sitemap.php?forum [L]
is this code correct ?

which file in your mod I will upload to google sitemap page?

if I will upload sitemap.php, How will I upload it? example:
www.myadressssssss.com/phpBB2/sitemap.php or www.myadressssssss.com/phpBB2/sitemaps.xml (which type of these)

admin panel Mod Rewrite Sitemaps activated: yes

ok. go to my sitemaps.xml
in loc url www.myadressssssss.com/phpBB2/forum-sitemap-7.xml
www.myadressssssss.com/phpBB2/forum-sitemap-8.xml
....
not found adress. :(

admin panel Mod Rewrite Sitemaps activated: no

go to my sitemaps.xml in loc url http://www.lavinya.net/phpBB2/sitemap.php?fid=2
..... found and correct url
and
in http://www.lavinya.net/phpBB2/sitemap.php?fid=2 url any post adress
eg: abut25.html correct adress.

and finally not approved posts are displaying in my sitemap file?
what can I do for don't displaying not approved post in sitemap file?

if you answer I will be happy. thanks.

Well, mod rewirte for sitemaps only concern sitemaps links (not the forum's), as I can see, you are using the correct files for able2know mod.

Then, according to what you told me, your .htaccess should look like :

RewriteRule ^sitemaps.xml$ /phpBB2/sitemap.php [L]
RewriteRule ^forum-sitemap-([0-9]+).xml$ /phpBB2/sitemap.php?fid=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^sitemap-forum.xml$ /phpBB2/sitemap.php?forum [L]

and these rewriterules should be located in the root's .htaccess of your website.

Once properly implemented, you should no experience further 404 on the sitemaps links. You could need to get rid of the "/" before "phpBB2" and eentually to put thos before the able2know rewriterules (the easyest thing to do in your cas is to put all the rewriterules in the root's .htaccess).

Well, I don't know about the approved posts mod but it's almost sure they'd be outputed even unapproved as is.

So please post a link to the mod you are using and I'll provide à fix ;)

hi,

just to tell you that some very good results where reported to me using the mx google sitemaps module : 30 800 pages indexed in google in one month ;)

Here results talks :D

And this is really what happened, because the site went through a total re-indexing while changing URL with mod rewrite (by the way one of the phpBB SEOmod Rewrite) so everything had to be redone.

For sure the use of mx sitemaps helped a bit, but within a month, and since the mx sitemaps URL are not listed in the mx google sitemaps module, it did not get fully indexed yet, while the forums using the mx google sitemaps was explored this much by the googlebot.

So everything is clear now, this mods is a must :D and I'll soon submit it to the moddb here ;)

Hi everyone and dcz!

I just found out about you mod from a friend. But i'm having problems installing it. I pretty much got everything down i believe.

1. copy files over to server
2. install tables into the db
3. edit .httaccess files
4. replace able2know SEO contrib mod files

But do i need to install the mod rewrites in the txt file in the able2know folder?

Right now my major problem is that I can't login... I have no idea where i went wrong. I didn't edit anything except the sitemap.php to change the path and the .httaccess file... i was able to login to do the db update, but now i can't get in. What could've went wrong?

Here's the site:
www.binghan.biz

you can test it out with L: realpat P: 12345

Thanks a bunch! :P

Sorry, I am not sure to understand here. You seem to have installed the able2know mod rewrite. No other changes needed than using the provided premodded file for the able2know.com rewrite mod.

This I don't know, since mx Google sitemaps is not changing one single phpBB line of code, there is no way you can mess with anything in phpBB, unless with the .htaccess maybe, but the result would certainly be no page outputted, or just links not working in case of mistake in it.

Anyway, I am able to log in with the pass you provided so ...

Then, you partially installed the able2know rewrite mod, it's ok for the forum index, but not with the viewforum topic links ;)

As well, since you are starting your forum it seems, please take a look to this article about the phpBB SEO mod Rewrites ;)

Then, it seems you uploaded the sitemap.php at the root level
http://www.binghan.biz/sitemap.php
and it's working nicely, mod rewrite for sitemaps is of, which is ok, mod rewrite for those is only cosmetic here, you did upload the correct able2know premodded file as well ;)
If you do not activate the mod rewrite for Google sitemaps, then just do not use the provided rewriterules (in contrib folder)
So you can stay like this and finish your able2know installation or migrate to an even better solution.
Then it will be ok to submit it to Google.

thanks dcz...

Okay i can login now. i guess it was my computer that was the problem.

Well as for Able2know mod, did you mean i didn't install it correct? and if so how did u find this out?

Did i forget to edit any other file that wasn't stated in the documentation you wrote?

And one last thing, I am not sure where I am suppose to put this:
viewforum.php?t=xx => forum-xx.html

Viewtopic.php?t=xx => aboutxx.html

Viewtopic.php?t=xx&start=xx => aboutxx-yy.html

I tried to just copy it into the .htaccess file, but that doesnt seem to work as i get an internal server error. Where or how am i suppose to put this?

Thanks again for you time...

regards,
pat

the line you are talking about are just here to explain what is the used URL standard ;)

Then, look at a forum, topic links where not rewritten last time I went there but now, your site is 500
Internal Server Error
;)

For the able2know mod, I don't know why it would not work for you on veiwforum.php. ob_start() can be tricky sometime.

Take a look to your code changes, or try another mod rewrite, many are supported by this mod.

what do you mean by its not working on my viewtopic.php?

ok it seems to work now, but when i check the sitemaps.xml file on my root it doesnt show a very good detailed sitemap or is it becuase i dont have anything in my forums yet?

Also, do i have to enable this option?
Mod Rewrite Sitemaps
If activated, the sitemap's url will be rewrited.
CAUTION : you MUST run Apache server with mod rewrite activated and set up the .htaccess located in this release's contrib/ folder properly.
NOTE : This will only affect the sitemaps url provided in the sitemap index. There is no problem for google to visit non url rewrited sitemaps.

Now it is working ;)

The mod rewrite for google sitemps will just mod rewrite the sitemaps URL, not the phpBB ones.

http://www.binghan.biz/sitemap.php here you can see links like :

http://www.binghan.biz/sitemap.php?fid=2

they'd be like -http://www.binghan.biz/forum-sitemap-2.xml

But this does not change anything with Google, it's just a cosmetic thing actually, so you can just stay like this.

To activate it, just properly implement the rewriterules provided in the .htaccess of the contrib folder and turn it on in acp.

Once you'd have tested every link, you will be able to submit your sitemap URL to google.
