Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

If I delete all shouts, it will work again...

Those who get a
"Object required at line ***" error in IE6, wait for the next release.

@Karate Chris, I like the way it's. 38 refresh rates and the session lookup is for 2 minutes.(PhpBB default one is 5 minutes). Updating the shoutbox session would be adding many queries to each request, when there is no real use in that. If you want it faster, I posted some pages before how to do it.

Babbo & Carp: Post more information about your problems.

For the next poster. Avoid posting stuff like. My shoutbox isn't working without giving out any details. If you want me to check your shoutbox put the url and open it for guests.

Could you post it in the FAQ Section?

Also, have you decided to put the Administrators at the top, then the Moderators, then the Users?

Nice script......

But I don't know if i installed it correctly.

View the error on the forum: (note this is not my main forum, this is a hosted club forum)

and the forum has a fatal error, so it shows nothing but the error.

Also, if it is something wrong with the install i did, can you reinstall the shoutbox for me?
I can get you a FTP account to fix the files.....

mods can also delete shouts.

Post by Puddys-World » Tue Jan 23, 2007 5:36 pm

If like myself you require your Moderators to also be able to delete shouts .. instead of just admins, follow this:

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
shoutbox.php
#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
if($userdata['user_level'] == ADMIN && $userdata['session_logged_in'])
#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
if($userdata['user_level'] == MOD || $userdata['user_level'] == ADMIN && $userdata['session_logged_in'])
thats it, very simple and great for your mods to help out the admins to.

Note that user_level MOD isn't very secure so far as I know. Users wich were moderators but they are not anymore might have uuser_level as MOD. But I'm not sure about this.

Hi,

I have installed SHOUTBOX on the following forum :-

http://www.zenithguild.co.uk

But i cannot get it to either show anyone who is online and chatting or display/save any messages to the database.

I have checked the database and all the required config fields are there, plus the two shoutbox tables (shoutbox and sessions) both exist.

PHPBB2 Version : phpBB 2.0.21

Any help would be most appreciated.

Try changing the chmod, look at your server error.
CCGI Error: Execution of this script not permitted

Execution of (phpBB2/shoutbox.php) is not permitted for the following reason:

Script is not executable. Issue 'chmod 755 filename'

So long as the board admins remove the past Mods rights correctly old Mods wont have delete access.
