I just noticed this error when trying to view the update page. It seems that the info has moved.

It is all jumbled but basically it isn't listing the modules and just has 301 redirects. Is this something on your end or my end?

1( You HAVE TO copy ALL files the install.txt tells you to there destinations.

2( After copying ALL the files, you HAVE TO execute install/install_statistics.php in order to install the modules into the database.

3( Then, when ALL the above has been done, you HAVE TO delete the install dir from your server.

Seems to me you did not do step 2?

You can use easymod, but if you are using a different style then subSilver then easy mod can give you some problems also.
Also if your board is allready modified by other mods, easymod could give problems.

If you want me to, i can install the statistics mod for you, just give me a pm then.

It seems to be a problem at your end, but i am not totally sure because the page shows up normally in my testboard.
Case is that i moved my modforum to another location, but all calls to the old location are being redirected to the new one, so in fact it all should work oke.

i figured that you moved the modforum as on my page it talks about a 301 redirect. Maybe I should try to hard code the new location. What file would I change for this and what is the new location?

Thanks

If you make these changes:

Code: Select all

#
# OPEN
#
statistics_admin_index_check.php
#
# FIND
#
$url = 'http://www.detecties.com/phpbb2018/stat_updates/statistics_updates.txt';
#
# REPLACE WITH
#
$url = 'http://www.detecties.com/modforum/stat_updates/statistics_updates.txt';
#
# OPEN
#
admin_statistics_updates.php
#
# FIND
#
$url = 'http://www.detecties.com/phpbb2018/stat_updates/statistics_updates.txt';
#
# REPLACE WITH
#
$url = 'http://www.detecties.com/modforum/stat_updates/statistics_updates.txt';
#
# EOF
#
Then it should all work ok again

You know i read the install.txt and followed the steps exactly....except...i ran the install/install_statistics.php BEFORE ever putting any files anywhere... :oops:

I thought that is what you wanted us to do since you mentioned that first...and then later gave directions on what to do to modify files and copy others...anyway...my mistake.

Now, i dont know why i am doing this again (maybe to get more headaches) but i feel i need to attempt this again. But BEFORE i do this....i want to make sure i am doing it correctly...so can you answer these questions for me...

1- do i need to chmod anything??
2-When i am told to put the .pak files in its directory...can i choose which ones i want in there or do i need to put ALL those .pak files there.

Also, just to make sure i know what i am doing...

I take it i am suppose to do the following:

1-Change my files
2-copy those files you provided
3-run install/install_statistics
4-delete install folder

Did i miss anything before or after??

Also, lastly....i was looking for a .pak file for displaying: Number of people on in the last 24 hours (where they show the members names)....do you have it there somewhere??

Ok wait...one more question...there is a .pak file that has a long name...when i try to upload it, it tells me i cant cause name is too long...is it ok to change it or will something wrong happen?

oh! remembered one more question....Once i have my .pak files up and running....can i delete any later on if i dont like them??

Sorry...i'm new at this... :oops:

thanksss!!!!

ok i am just too anxious...i did it again..i put all the files where they are suppose to be, edited the files i was told to do and choose only the .pak files i wanted to put in the pakfiles folder....then i ran the install/install_statistics and this is the message i get:

The Directory 'modules' is not writeable. Please chmod the directory to 777.

how do i do a chmod??

patiently waiting...yup my forum is down... :roll:

everytime you have the install directory on your server the forum will be unavailable. If you want to bring your forum back online, remove the install directory until you are ready to go forth with the install of this script.

As for chmod, any ftp program has the ability to chmod files.

That is asking for troubles.
Please edit you post and take that out.
