[ABD] Registration variable Mod

MOD Title: Register Parameter Mod
MOD Description : Changes the mode=register parameter in the URL to a user defined value.
MOD Version: 1.0.0
MOD Tested on phpBB Version: 2.0.22
MOD Download: http://www.tty.org.uk/register_mod.txt

This mod is designed to help defeat spam bots from registering on your site by replacing the mode=register part of the URL with a user configured value.

If other Anti spam MOD are installed then you may well find that this mod does not completely work. Specifically EXreaction's Anti-Spam ACP adds a log_spam line to usercp_register.php which will need changing to work with this mod.

OK - I've had 22 views of the code.

Has anyone (apart from me ;) ) installed it anywhere?

Did anyone have any problems/suggestions?

If not I'll submit it to the Mod Database.

Code: Select all

Classification: 52 Admin Tools

MOD Name: ConfusaBOT ACP
Author: espicom

Yes but that changes the agreed and coppa variables.

This changes mode=register to mode=[somewordhere]

which is something completely different

Or are you saying my mod wont install if that mod is installed?

indeed its something different , yet not 'completely' different..

and if I'm correct both mods will work just fine when installed both :)

Indeed its not completely different - and it was one of the mods that inspired me

OK

I've had no people reporting problems... which is depressing as over 40 people looked at the code and not one person told me that it didn't actually work (I released the wrong version of the code).

So I've fixed that and submitted the mod to the MOD database.

Hi, thanks for your hard work
installed the mod flawlessly, however, seem like it doesn't work right for me. The problem is that when i click on 'i agree to these terms...' instead of open the register page, it return back to phpbb main index

detail:
*tested on clean phpbb 2.0.22 with no other spam mods install
1)from the register button on index go to the 'i agree to these terms...' is OK:

Code: Select all

http://mydomain.com/profile.php?mode=TEST
2)when click on 'i agree to these terms...', it goes back to the phpbb main index

Code: Select all

http://mydomain.com/profile.php?mod=&agreed=true
-from what is see/guess from above URL is that the TEST is missing in where as mod=...&agreed=true

what i did wrong? please help

TIA

I know exactly what is wrong.. its called stupid me forgot to update a file when I was moving stuff round on my server.

The version submitted to the MOD team works

However the version you got is missing the following:

Code: Select all

#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
includes/usercp_register.php
#

#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
global $userdata, $template, $lang, $phpbb_root_path, $phpEx;

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
$phpEx;

#
#-----[ IN-LINE REPLACE WITH ]---------------------------------------------
#
$board_config, $phpEx;

So basically open includes/usercp_register.php in your favourite text editor, find the line which defines the global variables and add $board_config into the list.

The version on the website has been replaced now

Sorry about that

Perfect, adding the missing code and the mod worked beautifully 8-)
i really liked the mod, can be install manually or with EM. The default 'register' can be change to anythings in a few seconds now.
Thanks so much for your quick response and works

Best regards,

Projects I'm working on have moved me away from PHPBB so basically I'm abandoning this mod.
