I have another suggestion for the mod, which I think would help me out immensely on my RPG.
For each item, I want it so that a portion of the items I sell will have...hmm, expanded descriptions I suppose you could say. I don't want this for all of my items, so I figured this is a logical way to try to do it. For the short descriptions, that's fine as it is. However I want there to be certain details of some items to be left out before it is purchased. For the extended description, when setting up the items, you can set up the short and long description, but also a "secret" description. This woud be a field where you can add special information that is not revealed until someone buys it. Then anyone can view its full description in someone's inventory but still not in the shop interface. It would remain this way, because it would promote my members to be more observant of what their fellows have bought and so on.

I have several reasons I would like this. Foremost, I want a shop dedicated to only these types of items, as a sort of gambling buying thing. Generally I will only have unique items, one of each and maybe not. Either way though, they would have a pic, and a general description, but they can take a chance and buy the item. Only after, will they know just what they bought. Say there's an item called "Titan's Thunderbolt Axe" or something. It sounds mildy powerful. However in taking the chance to buy it for 1000 points, where a regular level 1 axe would cost around 100 you expect to be getting a bargain price for a level 38 axe. However, actually the item is only a level 6 item, that you could've bought regularly for 250 points or something. Then however, if the item received is so pitiful, one can still resell it back, although they've just incurred an unretrievable loss. Yet, another unknowing victim may repeat the same thing, because for the brief period its previous owner may have had it, the new person didn't view his profile to find out exactly what this item was, so on the shop again he does not see this hidden description. It's like an unidentified artifact or something.
...and as evidence from casinos, people like games of chance :)

If that's not enough reason, another is this seems to me to be a simple way of providing item sets, unless someone else can provide a reasonable but better way of doing it. By this, in the "secret description" it can list all the items in the set that the item belongs to, if it is in a set. Then, if he manages to collect all of them he can get an extra bonus. An admin may choose to simply give all set items the same prefix or something, but I do not plan to do that with all of mine, if this is put into action. Then, when my members "battle" when someone claims to have a full set, he can prove it because the once hidden description is now revealed in the description in his inventory, so there is no doubt to whether or not he's cheating.

I hope this can be done, because I would really like this option. :D

I released the update a minute before you posted :P

As for your idea, I like it, I'll add it as an option, it's RPish but as long as it's not enforced it will be ok.

Ah so I see :lol:

Hmm, great! :mrgreen:
Do you mean it's not mandatory option or something else?
It can just be that if the third field is not filled out, nothing else is displayed...don't think that would be a problem...just an extra thing for people who want it :)

That is understandable. I'm in no real rush.
Is it bad that the total mod size is getting larger, or do you mean it's bad because there's so much more work to be done?

...oh yeah, and I have a quick question. I know should probably just stop being lazy and find out for myself, but for the admin only shop thing, can you give yourself basically all the items you want, for free? :P

Use edit inventory to give yourself items.

admin_only shop is for unique items you want to give out to people.

It's bad that the size of the files is getting so large. harder to read for me and longer processing times.

Maybe you could split it into more files.

Like sell.php, buy.php, view_item.php, view_shop.php, etc.

That would mean much smaller files for each page and speed up delivery of the pages.

If I'm talking crap, just tell me to shut up :)

No, that's a good idea. It would just take quite alot of editting :P

I don't really mind about the admin page getting big anyways, since it won't be heavily accessed by anyone.

On another note, if you've already downloaded the mod (before the time of this post) and are having trouble with the effects and privileges shop. It's more than likely because you have a mod installed to edit the poster name to give it color/glow whatever.

To fix this, download the new zip file and redo this step:

------[FIND]------
//start of display-items

------[REPLACE ALL BETWEEN]------
//start of display-items
------[AND]------
//
// Note! The order used for parsing the message _is_ important, moving things around could break any
// output
//

------[WITH]------

i have a quick question, if you buy a name effect like a different name color how do you change it back?

-edit, nevermind, you just have to take the value out of the users table in the database

You sell it back, although this refunds nothing since it's not an object the shop can resell :P

...thus also an effective way for a disgruntled member to protest against the over-capitalistic points and shops but getting rid of them all without giving them to anyone :wink:

I like the buy title option in the special shop, but with it enabled anyone who hasnt bought one has "None"

Usually people's title changes with their rank, is there any way to keep that intact but still allow buying of special titles for the members that want to?
