[DEV] mxBB Portal (v. 2.7.6-pl1) News & Announcements

Post by _Haplo » Sun Feb 23, 2003 10:24 pm

The mxBB Portal News & Announcements
www.mx-system.com is the site for developing a modular based portal for phpbb forums.

The mxBB Portal Introduction
mxBB-Portal is the only fully modular portal and CMS for phpBB. It features dynamic pages, blocks, and themes, by means of a powerful yet flexible AdminCP. It works without touching phpBB by using integrated features and functions. This makes it a lot easier to upgrade to phpBB 3.0 "Olympus" when the time comes, among other things. mxBB-Portal requires phpBB to run, and currently supports the mySQL and postgreSQL databases, with planned support for other database management systems (DBMSs) such as MS-SQL. mxBB-Portal is the classic phpBB portal addon, improved and enhanced for every phpBB version released since 2001.

mxBB-Portal Features
- Easy to use and install web portal/CMS
- Intergrates smoothly with the popular phpbb forum forum, without modifying (modding) any phpbb files
- Intuitive, yet advanced Portal Admin Control Panel, managing every aspect of the portal
- Modular based approach with easy to use and install, upgrade (and create) addon packages
- Unlimited number of dynamic Portal Pages, making unique pages design truly creative
- Flexible Core Page Blocks featuring standard phpbb themes, BBcode/html, languages and view/edit permissions (user/group)
- Additional Module Page Blocks, enriched with tailored features
- Advanced interface for categorized menu navigation
- Cache, for fast functionality
- Support forum www.mx-system.com)

Please note that mxBB requires phpBB - it will not run independently.

New Release
Current Release: Mx-Portal v. 2.7.6-pl1
This mxBB Portal version is a Core distribution, stripped from add-on modules.

The portal seems very slow? It says it takes 6.1 seconds to create your index page on your site. That seems a very long time.

Regardless of problems and politics which are the bane of any large project we are looking for discussion on any bugs or ideas for development within the project, as this is a dev thread general support should be posted at the main web site here

Please keep this thread on discussion about development and bug issues within the core code, indvidual blocks or the development requests for indvidual blocks should be directed elsewhere as well.

it disappeared....

Post by DianaRae » Tue Feb 25, 2003 12:27 am

I have MX Portal installed...

I just tried to go to the site, but when I hit http://www.mx-system.com it automatically redirects me here: http://www.yellis.net/

Did I miss something? :(

[EDIT]: Interestingly enough I found it by typing http://mx-system.com (without the www). However, when you click on any topic it still sends you to http://www.yellis.net/

sigh

hijacked?

Post by SeanC » Tue Feb 25, 2003 2:16 am

Maybe they've been hijacked? Without knowing what all that text says, it's hard to judge. Hope he can get the domain back to it's proper place soon. Maybe it's some webser config issue.

I certainly hope not....but I think perhaps they are not in the US and probably sound asleep right now, so probably do not know it has happened (I hope).

mx system doesnt touch your phpbb or db though it does add its own tables, and you only have to make one edit to phpbb code and thats optional,

oh and you dont install on top rather you download and follow the instructions ;)

We now have a new xml cache feature AND a faster site server, so i doubt you'll find our site slow anymore ;)
