(request) 2.0.2 to 2.0.6 Changes

For the longest time, I thought my forum was up to date.
I didn't follow instructions well because I didn't quite understand them.. So whenever a patch would be released from PHPBB, I just thought you uploaded the .patch file or whatever it was called that you needed to use, and then run the install.php file and it did stuff for you. Well apperently all install.php does is add new fields to the DB and change your forum's version number from what it is to the new number.

So even though my board says 2.0.4, it's still 2.0.2 (when I installed). I saw that someone made an EasyMOD version of the 2.0.4 to the 2.0.6, and was wondering if that could be done again. Because my forum is HEAVILY modded and I don't know how to to that .patch stuff.

this should help
This takes you to 2.0.5-2.0.6 changes. For previous version, scroll down to the bottom of the first page. Since you have mods, you need to update version by version

Omfg. Soooooooooooooooooo much work. Is there a way to make this easier? How would one go about using "EasyMod" to do this?

The 2.0.2->2.0.3, 2.0.3->2.0.4, and 2.0.4->2.0.6 upgrades won't work in EasyMOD anyway, you'll have to do that manually. As for using EasyMOD, look at the sticky topics here:

Well screw it then. I guess my forum is just going to stay out of date until PHPBB 2.2 comes out.

They don't take that much time? There's like.. 5 pages of stuff to do for each patch, and I've missed 4 patches in a row. That's a lot of switching and replacing.

What exactly, besides security, makes 2.0.6 better than 2.0.2?
Anything obvious, or just 'behind the scenes' security?
