I did a general board search but failed to turn up any information as to whether or not a Chat Room/Instant Messenger application is available with or from PhpBB, that uses the same member list as the general Php Bulletin Board. The intention is to insert it into an existing website.

have a read of the instructions that come with the mod, and then ask any questions you have in the actual mod development thread. the author is probably the best person to help you.
