heres a quick fix...

in add_body.tpl

find

<input type="hidden" name="username" value="{USERNAME}" />

replace with

<input type="hidden" name="username" maxlength="10" value="{USERNAME}" />

10= the max characters you want.

this should work but im not positive.

Thanks I will try that. In my forum the character limit for the username is currently configured at 25 characters. I think that is the default number since I never modified that.

What is the character limit by default of the "Message body"?

NONE!

Then a user could do a "copy & paste" of 1 million characters into the message body of one forum and fill up all the server space!! I think this is dangerous. Is there any way to limit the characters of the message body??

No...

I don't know what the limit actually is...but I know I tried making a post once that was extremely long (It was a collection of poetry that my members had written and I was doing it all in one post)....anyway, it cut it off about halfway in.

So, I don't know what the actual limit is because I did not count the characters, but I do know it limits.
