I really need a way to change the maximum topic subject length on my board. I imagine its pretty simple, as I managed to do HALF the job by editing one of my template files.. but couldn't figure out the rest.

If this has already been requested a million times, or even done, I apologize.. don't hate me, the search function on the forums isn't working for me :/

I'm a girl, and I'm cute. So be nice :D

I think that will require some database field update.. You have to find out in which table is used for subject ..
BTw.. I think phpbb_config table containing feild config_name is one you shld look for .. it has current limit of 255 !
But.. I am not sure as not hav checked and I am also not a coder yet :P

I'm not a coder either, sadly--and am clueless when it comes to the database. Hence my request ;)

The limit I'm getting, though, is definitely not 255. It appears to be about 60.

Database field is correct, that needs changing. You need phpMyAdmin to access your database, find the table phpbb_posts_text, the field post_subject, and change varchar(60) to varchar(255)
Find the table phpbb_topics, field topic_title, and make it exactly the same - the topic title is a copy of the post title of the first post.
You can now just use the template to limit the length again if you like:
find something similar to this in posting_body.tpl:
<input type="text" class="post" name="subject" size="45" maxlength="60"
and change maxlength to another number
