Is there an MP3/WMA/Music Player Mod?

Post by JayWatcham.com »

Is there an MP3/WMA/Music Player Mod? I would really like one for my forum.

I mean like a small flash or some other script at the top/bottom of my forum that plays music files i upload onto the server with all basic play/pause/stop buttons.

If not - it is a great idea and I would really like it please :)

That version should do for you but good luck getting any help from CF Manager (he is in Vietnam and has flaked out on any support of his version)

Kate Eryn has 2.065 and there should be a few places to download it out there. Kate also has no interest in supporting her version last we heard and supposedly was developing something along completely different lines but that never seemed to materialize.

You will get the best functionality out of those two versions by combining them into one mod as both of them on their own leave some to be desired.

The version I have is the latest (that is available) If you know differently, then please enlighten us on where to find this "2.065" version, so at least I can update my db.

As for support on this mod, I dont have any problems in helping users with this mod. Ive already helped a few users with this mod, and fixed 2 bugs that exist in this version.

2.065 is the latest one that was available. The thing is the Kate took it along some different lines that CF Manager and lost some functionlity in some areas but gained in others.

The best result is gained (from those two available versions) by combining them into one mod to have the best of both.

We should still have it our archives from when we developed further into 2.1 I will see if I can post it for those who wish to have 2.065

Here is version 2.065 that was written by Kate Eryn ( the 2nd of the total three existing versions)

Again, for best results with the two available versions (2.06 by CF Manager and 2.065 by Kate Eryn) you should combine the two to make one mod.

You can download 2.065 at this link

You might have to upgrade the RealAudio codec... I think. I know I had to last year. you can google bits and parts of hit to get the latest updates of the music codes.

Kate also created the bandster MOD which is like the MusicOnline MOD, but more geard towards unsigned bands or artists online. but... again.. she also abandoned that MOD just recently.

Here is the link to Bandster if anyone is intrested. it is in BETA and not recommended for live sites BUT.. probably because of minor bugs. it works pretty well for a Beta mod if you ask me.

Kate's mod had many problems just like CF Manager's mod version did.

The only real way to get a reliable mod with all the functionality from either of those two versions is to combine the two.

Also, regarding Real Audio content, the best way is to link the files to the WMP player in the code instead of RMP and then use the following instructions

http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=558794

Then all real media content will play with no issues.

Several sites include flash-based MP3 players. Go to your forum's directory. From there, go to templates/(skin name)/overall_header.tpl Your overall_header file may be a .php. Either way you have it, put the flash-based MP3 player into that. That file is the top of every forum page.

As for the Real Audio, get RM Converter from http://www.rmconverter.com. It converts Real media to more widely supported formats.
